Flu shots are racist? The last time I took the flu shot I had the most severe case of the flu I have ever experienced.

It’s still approved for other uses.

Example - My kid is currently taking a prescription anti-histamine, on a half-dose. It’s side effect is increased appetite. His doctor prescribed it to him because she is concerned about his weight. He doesn’t have any allergy problems.

If the doctor wants to prescribe it, then so what. They know what the side effects are, and it is in fact FDA approved for something and not some experimental medicine that nobody really understands.

Its not so much that the drug is dangerous, its that morons see something that looks like it on a cleaning chemical bottle and figure why not lets give it a shot!

My wife gets on me every year about not getting the flu shot to the point that she has basically said if you die from the flu it's on you. She is a nurse and they pretty much have her completely brainwashed about vaccinations to the point that if the doctor recommends it for us for the kids we 100% have to have it.

That being said I have only had the flu shot once in my adult life. I got coerced into getting the flu shot when I was 20. Coincidentally this was the only year in my adult life that I have gotten the flu.

In the past two years my wife, parents and kids have gotten the flu shot. My wife has gotten the flu, my parents have gotten the flu and my son has gotten the flu.

The lone ranger non-flu shot recipient of the family has not gotten it. Coincidence? I think not.

I've gotten the flu shot every year since 1988 except for 1 and that was the only time I have gotten the flu.

I totally agree with your post. As I age I am more interested in conversation with my physician about the positive benefits of having the shot and it's potential to make it less life threatening. But I am also getting the other side of the coin from my chiropractor about the benefits of not getting the shot

Fascinating how wide ranging experience is on the flu shot. I don't currently take it but understand and for the most part encourage family and friends with underlying medical conditions to seriously consider it.
