I don’t want to pile on here but I would not consider Dr. Oz a consistently reliable source of information. Washing hands should be encouraged, however, there is no data to support that this infection’s transmission is cut by precisely 50% as a result. In addition, it’s unfortunately not all that reassuring to know that some people are asymptomatic with this virus. Individually, I would much rather be diagnosed with Covid 19 than Ebola (and influenza rather than either of the other two for that matter). However, on a population scale it is much more difficult to spread Ebola because it is so deadly that those who get it are often afflicted with severe symptoms and unable to spread the disease as a result. The most concerning infections on a population scale are moderately virulent.According to Dr. Oz, that one act alone, hygiene, can possibly reduce the probability of catching Corona by 50%. So, it would not be irresponsible to tell people to do those things. But, depending on age and health, I've also read where a person could have had it and not even know it. If this is true, then would it not be reasonable to assume it is less dangerous than influenza? 22,000 flu deaths only gets mere mentions in brief reports. Why isn't there mass hysteria over that? Any virus will affect elderly and those already with afflictions more than others. Is it because this is new, and influenza is seasonal and were used to it now so we don't think twice about the mortality rate of it verses covid-19? Has Covid-19 even reached the amount of deaths world wide yet that the flu has so far in the US alone?? That is why I question the fear mongering. Not contesting being smart about your daily business, but why didn't we shut down everything to curb the flu? There is also responsible reporting when it comes to dealing with something that is unkown.
Update: Both the wife and I called our PCP. Both said we probably have it but there are no tests and nothing they can do, so self quarantine and go to the emergency room if we get worse.
Because doctors can test for and know how to treat the flu. It appears testing for Covid-19 has not been done from the beginning.
Also, the flu has a vaccine. Someone pointed out that a vaccine is not a cure. Of course, it isn't. However, the vaccine is a tool that greatly impacts the mortality rate for the flu. If you just look up the data, a vast majority (75%+) of pediatric flu deaths every year are from unvaccinated kids. Some years it is 80-90%. I don't know about the adult numbers, but it's why they encourage you to get the vaccine. The last numbers I saw this year were that a minimum of 20 million in the U.S. have had the flu (and that's probably gone up). The mortality rate is fairly low with the common flu.
This virus scare is another hoax to simply erode our freedoms and liberties. Just look at California right now.
Newsom issues order allowing California to take over hotels for coronavirus patients
Over 61,000 died in the U.S. in 2017. Not a word.
I can't speak for everyone. But, I've only had flu vaccine once in my life. Sickest winter I ever had. Never took it again. Hadn't had flu in over 20 years. Not all are that lucky, so it's an individual choice. Our kids should be different till they are legally not our responsibility. Parents should not skip any of their vaccines, although a few are hotly debated.
Each person is different, and each person lives in a different environment. Depends on age, family, job, location, urban v. rural, etc. I don't know how old you are, but people roughly 20 years old to probably 50-60 years old can normally fight off the flu just fine. Our kids and our older adults, however, need the flu vaccine. 5 of the 6 members of my family got the flu this year, and we all got the vaccine. However, it also mitigates it if you get the flu.

My wife is a teachers aid with Pre-K. And the kids love her and fight over sitting in her lap and hanging on her. So she got sick one week. Was out. went back and got sick again right off. First time was Tamiflu. Second time was some other fairly new pill. Just one. I think it worked better. But IIRC, she wasn't told she had flu on one of those. Just symptoms. With that being before they knew to test for this virus, it makes you wonder if the virus hasn't already been here and been running its course.
If the virus has been here the whole time, then this is just all mass hysteria because flu related deaths has been about average. We have to assume that isn’t the case.
Half that section is for onions and garlic actually. They've moved everything down into the baskets because thier stock is so low.Gotta chuckle at folks leaving the good stuff to help clear congestion still in the produce section...garlic and onions.
Besides the fact that French onion soup done right is scrumptious.
