The Oklahoma Exodus

Wait until the transfer rules change. You ain’t seen nothing yet. Coaches will be fools to sign full classes. It will start a whole new recruiting season. Wait for the portal to fill and recruit to your needs.
I think it’d be foolish not to sign full classes because you recruit, offer, and sign people YOU choose, rather than hope guys you might want pop up for bid.

We can’t win this game with JG, it’s too soon in the year for HB to be up to speed and the other quarterbacks haven’t been given a chance to develop.

There are about 5 teams in America that would not be an underdog at Norman.

Shhh. We just stole a bowl win over Indiana and We are back baby. Those Oklahomans need to prepare for the buttwhupping coming their way . It's going to be just like that night we sang Rocky Top all night long.

Who said totally? Every team will primarily build their roster with HS recruits.
With attrition, you will be better to sprinkle in a few transfers to balance the roster.

agree...yep, we have used and will continue using the portal if the staff finds it has a need to fill...I said totally because some may think that could/would be an instant fix and you may be totally disappointed...:D

GO BIG ORANGE...TOTALLY!

On the surface this is great, since their D struggles anyway. Then again, maybe this is a "dead wood" exodus that will actually help them.

But I'm going with it's almost certainly a negative for them. Looking forward to that game!

Big 12 teams aren't noted as having good defenses and I'd like to see UT establish a solid running game with a big back. I think our next big back on this roster will be Hodge or Whitehead but both won't be on campus until this summer. Our current group of running backs have to be salivating running behind this Oline. OU fans will be looking for Rattler to light-it-up in the passing game because I think OU still has a solid group of receivers. I don't know if Rattler is a good running QB and if he is this has been giving our D a lot of trouble.
Backup and running QBs have given us problems for the past 10 years or more.

There might be something to mastering the portal grab, once players can get unlimited money for their likeness, those with the most potential, would be stupid not to get into the portal-you know the highest bidder kinda deal. I'm sure "sports agents" are already working out the details and will be ready on day one, our recruiting pros need to be ready as well.

Yeah OL, RB and defensive play don’t matter. Just QB. Everyone else can play like crap but as long as the QB plays good we will be fine right?
I never said we could win with bad O-Line, RB, and Defensive play. I expect our running game and D to be a strength next season. The BIG question is going to be our passing game primarily QB play.

Not at all worried about OU right now... worried about UT and particularly the QB position. If you are talking yourself into thinking that OU will somehow not have talent, great player development, and solid coaching... you're making a mistake.

I talked this over in the other thread, but 3 of the 4 putting in for transfers are low time individuals that didn't really live up to recruiting expectations after arrival. I'm sure Tennessee has had such players before in the past as well and would have been perfectly fine to see them leave. Mark Jackson is the only one that will put a dent in the roster and even he lost his spot to someone who stepped up.

Also, new Defensive Coordinator, new way of doing things and some of the old players don't like it. That's fine since the defense has jumped upwards since Grinch arrived and looks to be okay next year. By Big 12 standards anyway lol. Regardless, we should be better next year, but not entirely there yet until we get another recruiting cycle on the roster.

For those thinking we're going to have QB trouble because of a "1st year starter", I really think you are focusing on the wrong area. Offense is not going to be our problem this year.
