I say I’m not and that his targets don’t throw to themselves. Guess that’s where we’re at.

His sophomore season...broken collarbone. Injury prone would carry over to his senior season...how many games this season? Take your time. Guarantano missed the latter parts of his JUNIOR and SENIOR high school seasons and is noted for his toughness and durability if not always his passing. There’s no need for Bailey to redshirt if he’s the best QB on the roster. Pruitt’s a JG fan so he’ll get every opportunity, but if Bailey is needed he’ll play. Heard a bunch of calls to redshirt Morris and Wright this season, they were the best players at their positions so they played. Trying to steal seasons with this caliber player never works out.

No, his targets didn't throw to themselves, which is why I said he could certainly make all the throws. I just would have preferred to see him against a better team. I don't think there is much of a comparison between Washington state high school football and Georgia high school football. He had better competition in his state playoff games. Not one word of what I said was even remotely critical of the guy but I will stand by my assessment that Washington high school football sucks compared to Georgia high school football.

Compared to Georgia talent? What a leap. This was an exhibition between the BEST teams in each. Guess you need an octagon death match with California or Florida to be slightly impressed...no judgement.

Your responses are just nonsense. I guess you just woke up this morning wanting to argue with someone. Anyone, who can't see that Washington was overmatched in that game, wasn't watching very closely. I still don't understand how you translate that as belittling Bailey.

Belittling was the wrong word choice...I’ll own that. Downplaying is the correct term. Never want to argue but situations demand.

Don’t mean to get involved but for what it’s worth Merietta clearly overmatched nearly everyone they played at multiple positions. I see what you’re saying because it’s true

Recruitment isn’t the crux...EVALUATION is. Those have historically changed after the All America games and that hasn’t changed the last two seasons with the ESD.

when talking “rank” and “stars” are we not talking about the services opinion of a player? “Evaluation” is done by coaches because the services are clearly flawed and inaccurate.

You might want to take your time bc he also missed the last 2 games of his Junior season and most of the playoffs that year.. NOBODY was asking to redshirt Morris or Wright our oline was terrible. Yes, JG had injury issues in HS and he REDSHIRTED his first year. Giving him a year to learn the offense will only make him better and actually set him up to succeed. Glad we have a coaching staff that should see that.

Exactly. It isn't being critical of someone's performance to point out the competition was overmatched. I hope Bailey becomes the greatest quarterback in Tennessee history but no one can tell from watching last night's game.

I’ve watched his highlights, watched live and followed his career closely and I’m sorry.... at the Hs level throwing to AG is the equivalent to a full grown man vs a 10 yr old child. I gotta see him in a more talent/size equal atmosphere before I’m sold to say he’s anything more than a really good qb.

Read plenty of redshirt talk for Morris and Wright and really surprised that they didn’t clamor for Toto. Stealing seasons doesn’t work. Guarantano wasn’t ready so he redshirted...despite clamoring from some for him to get some experience behind Dobbs because he was a sure fire starter. I think Bailey’s better and a much more advanced passer, so if the coaches agree I doubt he sits. He runs a sophisticated RPO offense so the earlier he gets exposed to the next level of player speed the better. Now if Guarantano takes the next step in his 5th year on campus but only his second consecutive with the same OC and legit beats him out, then injury considerations aside then I could see him using the 4 game redshirt option. But it won’t be because he NEEDS it. Injury free senior season means not injury prone.

Duel qb is the way to go. Just look at the playoff teams this year, all duel threat. And also watch Texas A&M they got a good one. Jimbo knows what type of qb to go after, they will be in contention for sec in two years barring injury. We can too with a good qb, whoever it is.

You really seem kinda paranoid about this. I don't have an anti Bailey agenda. I simply pointed out the obvious which was that it's hard to tell a lot about a player when he's facing an overmatched opponent. That doesn't mean he isn't great and it doesn't even imply that he won't be a great quarterback at Tennessee. It simply says you can't tell from that one game but whatever.

Not paranoid...perceptive. It was impressive if he was throwing against air...which he wasn’t. Seems like desperate posturing on your part to put up such a protest.

What would I possibly be desperate about? All of this is of no importance at all. I never said he didn't throw the ball well. As a matter of fact, I said he did make all the throws but because I wouldn't pretend the team they were playing against was their equal, you take that as me being critical of him. That just seems weird to me.

What’s weird is the tonnage of words downplaying a performance that means nothing to you. It’s more of the same tired refrain that he’s a 3 star because his weapons are great. No that state championship team wasn’t their match...but they’re loaded with viable talent. When I don’t care about something? I prove it.

Once again, you've built this straw man argument. I never said he was a three star player and if anyone did, that's them not me. There also wasn't a tonnage of words about any of it until you falsely accused me of belittling him. What is there to prove? It's obvious to anyone that watched the game that the two teams weren't equals. Would I be downplaying the Marietta receivers if I said they weren't playing against a great secondary? Of course not! It's just stating a fact. I wish we had the Marietta receivers signed too but that doesn't mean I think a good evaluation of them could be made by just watching last night's game.

For a QB labeled as lacking mobility, I was impressed last night when he was flushed out the pocket to the right and beat the lineman to edge and ran for about 15 yards down the sidelines. I saw him move around a couple of times to avoid rushers too. Is he a speed demon? No! He’s not a statue either.
