'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

It wasn't that Cade went to Georgia, or even that he decommitted from us. He basically gave Volnation a big middle finger at every opportunity. If he comes back and plays well all will be forgiven by the majority of the fan base. But those of us who follow recruiting enough to be on Volnation digging for every bit of info we can get on the Vols future will always have an uneasy feeling about him.

I thought Fulmer and Pruitt did go in home, because that's where that absurd story came out that Pruitt had laughably used some choice language and turned off the family.
Visited him at his school; parents were not even there, if I'm not mistaken. Story was bs, as most stories are.

i would go the other way.

that he went out the way he went out, i think you'd almost have to look at it like if he transfers out of UGA and comes here, that's a pretty serious of act of contrition on it's own merit, cause he'll know the baggage he brings back to Knoxville, and he'll have to own it and put up with the knuckleheads that will hold it against him forever.

so if he were to transfer here, you'd have to think, taking all of that in to account, that he really must want to be here, and for that alone, i'd give him props.

I mean if he came in with credits out of HS like some of alluded to, maybe he was a junior academically by the time this football season started. It's very possible.
True. Not very common. Catholic prolly had a lot of advanced programs towards college accreditation. Kirkland didn’t do it in two and he had an impressive workload iirc. Dobbs major was unrealistic towards that goal. Those are my usual go to’s on this subject.

Your bridge maybe. I honestly had more of a problem with him not allowing Pruitt and Fulmer to visit in home than that stupid song some got so worked up about.

WAY past over it now. If he wants to transfer and play with his brother, I have zero problem with it. If he wants to stay at UGA, best of luck to him except when he plays us.
They did have an in home because there were photos posted on Volnation if my memory serves me right.

Really, really agree with your position on this. Though I am not taking this potential very seriously, and won't until given a real reason to, I could see a potential for him to give it a thought. Doubt he could play the grad transfer card after only two years, but if he for sure wanted to play with his brother, there is an alternate plan that would allow him to do that. If he can within the next school year graduate, he could do the only play in 4 games card next season, transfer and sit a year and have a couple of years to finish out at UT. If they did not hit the trash he could dig out all his Orange stuff that used to be on his walls (from a story I think I read back in the day) and file to recover his VFL card and unify his entire household. BUT I would find pushing out his entry into the NFL a year or two highly unlikely. The family has obviously found a way to have the brothers be at two different schools, so I am good with it, either way. I would SPECULATE the plan is to only deal with the two school dilemma one year and Cade to enter the draft next year while the younger brother does more work in the training room than on the field. This could be impacted by the outcome of the 6th year appeal our current C is contemplating.

I am not one that has placed a lot of equity in the Pittman departure being a huge factor in all of this... a factor maybe, but not huge.
It has been stated Pittman was the reason Cade chose Georgia. I believe Pittman is the no 1 reason he may decide to transfer.

Definitely not common but really not that crazy. I can't remember if Peyton graduated in the Fall of 96 or the Spring of 97 but he wasn't an early enrollee I don't think, so he either graduated in 2.5 or 3 years. A lot of people graduate in 3 years so 1 semester earlier isn't that much of a stretch with all the credits you can get in HS now.

Pittman may be the straw that broke the camels back but there's been rumors about this for months before anyone ever believed Pittman would leave.

it was actually spring of 98...i know this because we graduated the same day....i get confused too because his senior season was 97. but he actually walked across the stage in spring 98....and i tend to track my college years via football seasons too. can't tell you how many times i've said i graduated in 97...lol
:)

We all take offense at what some recruits do toward us as UT fans but you have to let those things go. We all do those things to others as well and then later come back around and all is forgiven. At least should be. Resentment and bitterness aren't a healthy way to leave. SO come on down Cade!

the only time i've relally gotten butthurt over something a recruit did was when Quay Walker committed to UGA. that was just disprespectful.

past that........a whole lot of meh.

That would've been for his graduate Degree. Not his undergrad.

well, excuuuuuse me..................lol.
Haha I was trying to figure out how long it took Peyton to get his undergrad. It was either 2.5 or 3 years but I couldn't find any info on the timing of him finishing it.

LOL. Talk about serving the lord and then telling TN to F off soon after. Anyway Vol fans should be thankful Cade decommitted at the time because this article states
It was the final nail in the coffin for Butch getting fired.
Think it was a done deal after UGA. He really lost the team against UMass, but the total giveup against the Pups was the proverbial writing.
