'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

it was 3 years iirc....he got his undergrad in spring 97 i believe.
Yeah only thing I could find was when he declared he was coming back they said he already had his degree and that was in March I think so he would've already graduated in December. Unless they just meant that he would already have it and just worded it funny.

Pittman may be the straw that broke the camels back but there's been rumors about this for months before anyone ever believed Pittman would leave.
Not doubting you but the only rumors I’m aware of started when Pittman was interviewing for HC job the last couple of days. The Mays thread was bumped Sunday or Monday. When and where did you hear rumors prior to that ?

It wasn't that Cade went to Georgia, or even that he decommitted from us. He basically gave Volnation a big middle finger at every opportunity. If he comes back and plays well all will be forgiven by the majority of the fan base. But those of us who follow recruiting enough to be on Volnation digging for every bit of info we can get on the Vols future will always have an uneasy feeling about him.

I’ll go ahead and exclude myself from that sweeping generalization.

On page 185 of this thread, I quoted 2 posts from April that were originally in the Cooper thread about it. There were more about it throughout the year but I'm not gonna go search for them. But you can use the search feature and find them probably. Search Cade Mays Graduate or Cade transfer or something. It's fun for everyone.

right. there were rumblings from folks that are considered "knowledgeable" months ago....a lot of it was dismissed at the time, for all the obvious reasons. but given who it was coming from, i'm sure some (self included) at least kept an eye open for the possibility.

and here we are.

An EE who wanted to graduate early could get in 8 semesters between January 2018 and July 2020. Factor in an easy major like Sports Management and AP credits, and it's doable if a player is committed to making it happen. Both Cade and Cooper are smart kids. If they want to play together a final year, there's a path.

i think UGA hiring matt luke as quuickly as they have probably helps their cause with Cade and Tate. just a guess. but i would have liked to find a way to bring matt luke on to this staff in some capacity.

one thing to keep an eye on i guess, is if we do decide to part ways with a couple guys on the staff, seems the pool may be a little shallow by the time we get around to doing it.....something to keep an eye on? and i'm not going off the ledge here, but that situation could be made more stressful should some of our staff get poached in the next couple weeks. i think it's important to make sure we retain who we WANT to......i know that's not earth shattering news or anything. lol.

Yeah, we'll likely have a few staff changes. Some contracts are expiring, and I'm sure they anticipate other schools coming after some of our best guys. Pruitt and Fulmer probably know who'll they ante up to keep, who they're willing to let go and where we can upgrade. It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

yeah, i'm almost not so much concerned about who we might lose, i think most of us have a handle on that already. it's who would be brought in......especially when you consider that one of the biggest needs rumored is more elite recruiters, which just don't grow on trees....

i think as far as off seasons have gone for us recently, this one will be relatively mild, but still will have some twists and turns that we don't know about yet.

@InVOLuntary definitely agrees with you.

You think Jennings would welcome him in the lockerroom?
Jennings would welcome anyone who is there to give their all for the program and help it to continue to move forward and finish what his senior class and team started. Jennings wants what's best for the program no matter whats happened in the past. I'd welcome Cade to the family or back to the family if he so chooses to transfer here. We need all the help n bugs we can get in the trenches.

I'm not so sure. He seems like the type who remembers who disrespects him and his.

Is Jennings going to make a special trip back to Knoxville to welcome Mays ?
