If you had told me before the game that Holmes and Collier would score 4 points each, I would have said we win.

Once again, we were burned by guard play. Higgs and Sutton were outstanding. However, despite their play, I think we still win if we didn’t shoot 5-21 from 3. That lost the game for us. Texas wanted us shooting jumpers and we played into it for much of the game. We need to work on passing into the post.

P.S. Our post defense was really good and our players should be proud.

After that many days to prepare, the half court offense looked terrible. The effort for the most part is there, the players just looked like they didnt know what to do. I dont like calling out players by name but jesus make a damn layup. Collier and Holmes combine for 8 points and still win on the road? Just not a good look losing to Texas at home.

The box score indicates that just under 30% of UT's shots were 3 pt attempts. That's typically a good percentage (one third). The real problem was that too many of them missed. They shot a dismal 28%. Had it been a decent 38% UT wins the game. The reason UT lost was because of horrible shooting including just 58% from the line. I'm not sure how much of that can be blamed on the coach.

The LVs are offensively challenged, per the Air Force coach.

I do believe we pay a little more attention to detail on the defensive side of the ball and play with a little more intensity. But when it comes to offense especially our half court offense -this closely resembles Holly ball.

Also, have we called a timeout to stop another team’s run yet? So far it looks like Kellie would rather them try and play through it.

Disappointing game on many levels.....

Hit the Damn lay ups, and anything in within 4 feet should be made.....
Hit the free throws.....
Take a strategic time out when the other team is kicking your butt.....
Don't shoot the ball without at least one player under the basket for a rebound....
Too much standing around on offense....
Coach Kellie needs to have someone evaluate her in game performance....Time outs are your friend.

Lousy game for us.....

Give the lady some time to UNcoach! It's harder to change bad habits than to instill new ones. No one should pass judgement on her abilites to coach until she has 75% of the team that she recruited. Do you think LVs can beat KJH's old team? They are 8-1 with a win over a number 23 Minnesota team, also Oklahoma and Wichita State, as a mid major. Missouri State is playing KJH basketball and LVs still have a lot of HW in them. When your 4 freshmen are juniors you sill see what kind of coach you have. Until then everyone should be a supporter and not a critic.

Coach KJH can try and get KK from pounding the floor with a dribble before she goes up for a shot.

Do y’all feel like the outcome of this game could've been different if the Lady Vols had played a non cupcake schedule for 6 of the 7 games they’ve already played? I only saw a bit, but it seems to me that they were shell-shocked. It looked like 6th grade travel ball. Texas ran around swarming the ball like gnats slapping at the ball, the bit of the 4th quarter that I got to see, and got all the loose balls. Heck, on 2 occasions Texas got the ball that went out of bounds. Once on Rennia’s break away and again against Key on a defensive rebound AFTER A FREE THROW. those balls should never be going to the opposing team. Seems to me had they been challenged prior they would have been able to swat these annoying gnats.

The most frustrating thing for me is this is the same chaos that I watch in 6th grade travel ball. I tell my kid over and over that if his team gets pensive, then they are going to lose to these little pests. If you have gnats swarming, then attack. Zero aggression on offense. Diana Taurasi may be the best at it combating this crap. If gnats are going to reach or lean in, GET LOW and go into them. Make the ref call a foul. I literally gasped when in the 4th they called a foul on one of their guards and it was their 2nd foul. How did Tennessee not ring up the fouls on these slapping pests? In my opinion, they play street ball and slap the ball like that, then they pay for it.

Texas was 6pts better. Both teams’ stats sucked. Texas just a little less so. I was out and didn’t see the game but losing by 6 when you had such crappy stats is a loss that should not have been

Furthermore, Kelly, I am 100% in your corner, but if the guards are swarming, stop having them stand around the arc playing feed the post. Bring your bigs out and have them screen the gnats and try a pick-and-roll. You just may teach the gnats a lesson, and you may get a foul on them while you’re at it.

Again 100% in your corner for now, but I cannot sit around another 7 years watching them play feed the post. Hello, 1970 called, they want their basketball game back. Rennia and Horston are your scorers. Call their number. Use your impressively strong posts, whom obviously today showed ability on the defensive end, to help your offense out.

Maybe another idea. Their guards don’t get to score 19 a piece if you didn’t let them absolutely have their way on defense. Screen them off a couple of times and they are going to feel it. Move on offense and make them chase you, then they don’t get in such a groove. Again, missed the game. Did KK use her big beautiful frame to set a hard screen on the gnats?

Again didn’t see the game. I know stats don’t usually accurately portray a game. After reading the recap I think they do in this game. It seems both teams were off the mark

Folks this is a young team, with two seniors, who are, for the first time contributing to the program. Harris, one of those seniors looks a lot better than she looked for the last two years.
In reality, these ladies are playing together for the first time. Yes, we won against teams earlier on, who were no where near the young talent we have. We lost at least 50% of our scoring. If you expected this team to be as good as the top tier teams you were mistaken. It takes time to build a working unit. It took a while before KJR was able to bring Mo. State back to life. Our previous competition was glorified practice at best. The ladies now know what it feels like to get beat by a team that has better talent. Before we castigate the coaching staff lets see more of a sample size. Let’s see what the ladies look like as the season goes on. Let’s give the coaching and our players a chance before we kick them to the curve.
