Practice participation throughout the week isn't the same as being medically cleared to play, since there's no QB contact during weekly practice. Brian Maurer wasn't announced being cleared until Wednesday with just 2 practice sessions left for the week.

From what I can tell everyone knew 18 was able to play all week and I know he took first team reps early in the week per VQ practice reports

They decided to RS him a while back. I think he's fully recovered from his knee injury, but either he keeps reaggravating it or they're just giving him more time. I thought we could see him some, too.
Do you expect to see any of the redshirt candidates playing any meaningful minutes in our next three games? For those who haven't played any, it seems a great way to get some game experience for next year.

I just rewatched the first half of the game. I noticed we went five wide a couple of times near the end of the first half. This helped free up some space and it helped the offense move the ball. Additionally, we should run Jennings inside the wild cat anytime we get inside the 10 yard line. His quickness and strength helped us score that touchdown close to halftime.

Pruitt announced Maurer was cleared to play for the game Wednesday after practice. Being that practice is again (as I already said) a non-contact affair for the QB, he was able to fully participation in practice all week and since Maurer is our #1 QB, he got the bulk of the reps as we all are well aware of...

What are you arguing again? I know this is "what you do" but you're constantly changing directions, so just want to get back on the same page.

I think they knew they could win with a one handed JG or Shrout and gave Maurer another week to heal. We will need him for the final stretch. Like someone mentioned earlier, this may have been JGs last homecoming game in Neyland and let him play more. If so, that is pretty awesome on Pruitts part.

Not sure you can ever be on the same page with Bruin.

Looking good for us to win out or at least get to 6-6 and a bowl this season.

Pruitt not going anywhere at the end of this year which is definitely a good thing.

If we continue our upward trajectory next season to 8 plus wins, we will be fighting off other schools to keep Cornbread and most of the staff.

Good times coming!

Unfortunately....I think if Maurer plays and gets a concussion he's probably done for the season. And we all are aware that if we want to win 4 more games (bowl game included) this year Maurer is the best shot we got at QB to do that.

I really wish JT would cleanup the dumb mistakes and live with a sack if it means not throwing a ball into a potential interception.

18 wasn’t held out of the uab game because Pruitt knew we were winning anyway and to protect him/save him

That’s my stance

I think the feeling is that we could be in close games down the stretch, so the plan is to minimize mistakes and get the W. I'm not sure we have any RS candidates that are healthy and can contribute in a meaningful way-- maybe CFA, if he isn't dinged-up. A lot of these guys are playing through something, but I think we're just trying to get to the bye week and heal up. If we get way up on Vandy, they could empty the bench.

The bammer refs didn't stop it.
