Who are two players everyone wants to see step up and make an impact in their position groups this season who have the potential?

JJ Peterson- get your head and attitude right son
Maleik Gray- show up every rep and play

You most likely will be dead on... it's a shame though you have to admit... so much potential... I know we Vols say it a lot, but look at over the past 6-7 years how many hyped players have come into the program and fizzled, left, or faded away...

I know you think JJ is a freak athlete, and I agree it is there, but he's seemingly yet to get his head out of his arse... And the longer this goes on, he will lose reps, be recruited over, and it will be harder and harder for him to convince the coaches he deserves playing time. This staff don't play around.

He is a redshirt freshman. It’s the first day of fall camp. He has 3 years left after this one. These kind of takes are ridiculous and absurd.

Yeah the pictures and videos make that clear. Watched one video with defensive lineman going through a drill and those guys were enormous. Middleton really does pop off the screen. I was thinking I can’t recall the last time I watched one where that many consecutive massive guys on the DL went through a drill. Makes you hopeful that group can exceed what I think right now are some really low expectations.

If it’s true that players eventually take on the personality of their coach would you think these guys might turn into a bunch that wants to fight somebody or is it your position that every player we get from now on is just coming here for trumpet lessons?

Yep. I am down on JJ and the line VQ gave yesterday worries me more about his future but to make those post is crazy to compare him to some of the last chance U failures

It’s my position that I damn sure hope we have a DL that consist of players that have the same careers as Tuttle, Kmac and Barnett at this point.

I'm going with 'fight somebody'. Young men want to belong to something. When the core culture was butt-hurt over fans being mean to Lyle, the whole team got drug down to that. As key players cycled out and were replaced with guys recruited by Pruitt, the culture hit a tipping point. No doubt in my mind that guys on the fence either got with the new culture or will be a non-factor. Last year's team showed flashes, but simply didn't have the emotional and physical stamina to go the distance. My guess is that this year's team will.

Yea that same team we spent the entire fall camp talking about how that crew led by the kongbo talk looked like beast.

Hell that DL had Kongbo, barnett, Tuttle, Lewis, verreen, Phillips, McKenzie, taylor, Vickers. It was loaded with talent and size.


Its crazy how quickly posters forget.
