I think you’re also at the time of year where a lot of blue bloods have their target list of guys they’ve been after for awhile, so you don’t see them throwing out too many offers until some of those guys commit elsewhere.

I would almost take anyone that Tony Bennett offers. All coaches miss, but it usually means the player is talented with a good head on his shoulders and will probably play at least 2 years. Pretty much the same type that Barnes is looking for.

Keon is ranked #32, currently...

UK 1 non Top 20 offer
UNC 1 non Top 35 offer
Duke 1 non Top 20 offer

Simply put they typically don’t pursue non-five stars until they’ve missed on their top guys or come spring.

One of the fastest rising players in the class of 2020, five-star guard Bryce Thompson's recruitment is getting pretty busy. After visiting Arkansas, Colorado and Texas A&M officially during the fall, the 6-foot-4 scorer and passer from Tulsa (Okla.) Booker T. Washington has seen his recruitment really pick up. Kansas (where he has been unofficially) has turned things up, he visited Michigan State officially and he'll be checking out North Carolina beginning on Monday. Of course he has been to both home state Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Thompson isn't taking his rise to No. 18 in the national rankings and how much his recruitment has picked up lightly. But, he also felt this day was coming. "I just kept working and everything else took care of itself," said Thompson. "I just stayed in the gym and kept working on my craft and this is what comes with it. I just have to keep going and stay blessed."

In addition to visiting North Carolina, Thompson is hoping to get up to Kansas this week. He discussed what he's looking forward to with those visits and broke down what he's seen at Michigan State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Don't look for things to slow down anytime soon with Thompson. He's pretty dedicated to exploring his options as deeply as possible and schools will wait on him. He scores efficiently, is a big-time passer and is just beginning to mature physically. It's important to note that his father Rod Thompson has familiarity with two coaching staffs from when he played at Tulsa where he was coached by Self and current UNC assistant Steve Robinson. The Michigan State visit left a strong impression and the local schools will be right there until the end. Now, it's just a matter of seeing who else can gain traction before he looks to set some official visits for the fall.

One of the class of 2021's elite prospects, seven-foot tall five-star Chet Holmgren is also on of the most unique players in America. A rail thin big man with legitimate perimeter skills from Minneapolis (Minn.) Minnehaha Academy, Holmgren is a shot blocking machine on defense and a skilled scorer who can put the ball on the floor and shoot from deep on offense. Whatever you do, don't mistake his lack of strength for a lack of toughness because he's as tough as anybody in the country. “I’m just trying to go out there and be as tough as I can," said Holmgren. "I don’t care if they are bigger or stronger than me. I’m going to go out there and I’m going to battle with them and give it my all and compete.” Playing with Team Sizzle in the Under Armour Association, Holmgren has developed quite the chemistry with 2020 five-star point guard Jalen Suggs -- who is also a high school teammate.

“It’s been great," said Holmgren of his grassroots play. I’ve always been with them and love playing with them. They allow me to showcase my skills and I love that we are going out and playing as a team and winning.” “We’ve been playing together since third grade and we have great chemistry. We know where each other is going to be. We know what each other can do and we play really well off of each other offensively and defensively and it all comes together.” Holmgren has now racked up offers from the likes of Baylor, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Marquette, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas and many others. Before competing in last week's NBPA Top 100 Camp, had an opportunity to stop by each Georgetown and Maryland. Those two aren't the only programs applying pressure to Holmgren, whose father played at Minnesota. "Purdue has made me a priority since the beginning of my sophomore year," said Holmgren. "Texas has said that as well. Minnesota, Tennessee and a few others.

“My relationship with Minnesota is great. There’s pressure to go anywhere. I’m just trying not to let those pressures get to me and trying to make the decision that’s best for my future.” When it does come time to decide, Holmgren is going to lean heavily on the relationship he is able to create with a potential coach. “Basically I just have to build a great relationship with the coaches," said Holmgren. "I have to see myself being able to be there for a long time because it’s going to be my home for a while. Also great facilities, great strength coaches and nutritionists to help me build my body because that’s what I need to take my game to the next level.”

There’s only 1 person that was going to leave for Blackshear, and that player would prefer to remain in Knoxville if given the chance...you think someone WANTS to transfer in late June/early July with incredibly limited options?

If I knew that my coaches were recruiting their asses off to replace me and kick me to the curb if Blackshear came? Hell frickin yes.

Kid may be a screw-up right now but he is obviously not a quitter and is showing the dog in him by sticking it out when it could go either way.

Eh, not sure...after the season was over the staff thought he was gone, he had a change of heart and opted to try and stick it out.
