IDT he was straight-up bluffing. I think he wanted some things, asked for more than he's willing to accept and will walk if he doesn't get what's most important to him. We'll see where he draws the line. Not sure UT has much more movement on $$$. And Boyd likes to get something when he gives something, so it'll be interesting to see what they can work out-- if they can.

the thing i can't figure out, on the UCLA side of things is they apparently got far enough along with Jamie Dixon that the buyout wound up being someting they coudln't overcome.

but now money, resources etcc...are not an issue at all, and UCLA has access to whatever they need to get Barnes....

If you can make it there you can make it anywhere. I've know people to move to bigger cities and not be able to cut it, and move back home to where they are comfortable. Would you rather be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond.

something doesn't pass the smell test. plus in that ESPN piece, chris low said UCLA is planning on making a run at Tony Bennett as well. well, that won't be cheap either and will take longer than UCLA apparently wants this thing to last at this point.

so, there's no way, imo, ALL of these things can be true.........lol.

Sounds like some things were neglected that Tennessee didn’t like. Him and Phil had an honest conversation. Phil tried to fix those things and come up with a fair compensation package.

Hell of a statement of intent from Phil if true. That’s a good AD. Listened, didn’t take it personal and tried to be reasonable.
Can’t blame Rick either.

It's Day 99 of the UCLA search. The AD is under fire and they don't want it to go to Day 100.
