Factor in the number of games you can't just go by seating capacity. I know, math hurts
19 home games this past season for Bbball...at a 20k ave...380k.
7 home games for football, @ 95779 ave....670k.
the real money is in the TV contracts anyway. and football is bigger, in all categories.
but this isn't about that. if Rick Barnes does leave, then all that tells you us that mens bball has a ceiling on what support it will get. it won't be about money for him. probably has a lot more to do with what we'll spend on the support....and if that's capped, to the point Barnes is told "no", then that's the only conceivable reason i could think of for him thinking about leaving.
fan support, facilities etc...it's all there. the only reason, imo, he would consider leaving is just flat being told "no" where everything in football has been "yes".
that said, i don't know whether that's the case or not. Lanier left for a head coaching job, so it's not like he left to go be an assistant somewhere else for a lot more money. we have other assistants being considered for HC jobs. and i have no doubt that UCLA is interested in Barnes. all this really means is that these guys are being recogized for their success.
no clue if that kennedy talk, or this feud w/fulmer is legit or not. sounds like internet fodder to me.
all these meetings they're having could be Fulmer picking his brain about some of the coaches he's looking at for the LV's, he's been known to consult other coaches in the past about hires he's made..... could be discussions on who Barnes wants to go after for assistants. could be a lot of things.
anyway. i'm still in the i'll believe it when i see it category.
