Hard to see a 64 year old, southern, god-fearing man like Rick Barnes enjoying life out amongst the godless, pot-smoking liberals in LA. If he takes the job, he must have been pretty unhappy in Knoxville for a while.

Terrible take. Southern California is a top place in the world. He’s not gonna be rubbing elbows in the slums. He will have a house on the beach somewhere.

Yep I didn’t take Barnes for being like this to cause drama. Not too mention it literally makes zero sense for him personally, religiously or professionally. It just more reason for me to miss Bruce. Bruce was a lifer here if it was his choice

maybe he isnt? we are making assumptions, but maybe hes serious about leaving and not angling at all.

I'll give you San Diego but LA is trash. I would never visit there again, let alone live there.
la is absolutely massive. Been to south bay? it is wonderful. Maybe you went to...compton? Hard to judge an entire city that diverse. Just like ucla vs usc - one beautiful, one in the downright ghetto. But yeah san diego is great too.

Factor in the number of games you can't just go by seating capacity. I know, math hurts
19 home games this past season for Bbball...at a 20k ave...380k.

7 home games for football, @ 95779 ave....670k.

the real money is in the TV contracts anyway. and football is bigger, in all categories.

but this isn't about that. if Rick Barnes does leave, then all that tells you us that mens bball has a ceiling on what support it will get. it won't be about money for him. probably has a lot more to do with what we'll spend on the support....and if that's capped, to the point Barnes is told "no", then that's the only conceivable reason i could think of for him thinking about leaving.

fan support, facilities etc...it's all there. the only reason, imo, he would consider leaving is just flat being told "no" where everything in football has been "yes".

that said, i don't know whether that's the case or not. Lanier left for a head coaching job, so it's not like he left to go be an assistant somewhere else for a lot more money. we have other assistants being considered for HC jobs. and i have no doubt that UCLA is interested in Barnes. all this really means is that these guys are being recogized for their success.

no clue if that kennedy talk, or this feud w/fulmer is legit or not. sounds like internet fodder to me.

all these meetings they're having could be Fulmer picking his brain about some of the coaches he's looking at for the LV's, he's been known to consult other coaches in the past about hires he's made..... could be discussions on who Barnes wants to go after for assistants. could be a lot of things.

anyway. i'm still in the i'll believe it when i see it category.

I was told we were going to a playboy mansion party the first time visiting la...but it fell through. oh the sads i felt

Not to be a dick... but I said "visit there again" indicating that I have. Several times. Once to visit and another for work. Also been to San Diego for work.

Now to be fair Garren, big cities arent my thing. I also dont like Atlanta.
No one likes Atlanta....

not intended to be a true statement....I don't like Atlanta, and I live here.

To be honest, it’s probably true that Holly is a really good basketball coach. I don’t think she had the temperament to get the best from her players as HC. The HC usually has to be the disciplinarian. The head assistant is normally the softer one. It’s hard to switch from one to the other.
This.

Santa Monica area is where we stayed, mostly but did the obligatory tourist stuff.

does said sacrifice need to be a "virgin"?
No, I think they are going extinct anyway. Now if any of you boys have kings blood that's the perfect sacrifice. We will end up with Krzyzewski as our coach or somebody like that. I found out through that Ancestry DNA thing that I'm related to the Plantagenet kings. I'm a big Tennessee fan but being burned alive is not my idea of taking one for the team.
