I think they’re in pretty good shape. My guess right now is that Tennessee is the team to beat for Cooper Mays, although he obviously hasn’t formally named any favorites, and I think the Vols still have a shot at Chris Morris. Tate Ratledge is far from a sure thing, but I think Tennessee has continued to make strides with him over the past few months, and it’s looking like a Tennessee-Georgia battle right now.
The Vols also are legitimate contenders for five-star Justin Rogers, Xavier Hill of Mississippi and Terah Edwards of Ohio, and they’re still battling to flip five-star Ohio State OT commitment Paris Johnson Jr., who already has been to Tennessee twice this year.
And the Vols obviously have gotten visits from plenty of others who appear to be in play for Tennessee, including Josh Priebe of Michigan, Marcus Henderson of Memphis, Joshua Jones of Alabama and James Robinson of Alabama. And there are still others who have shown interest in Tennessee but haven’t visited yet, including Jalen St. John of St. Louis, four-star Ty’kieast Crawford of Texas and juco OT Antwan Reed, who plays at the junior college where Tennessee’s Joe Osovet previously coached.
When you look at that list and where they stand with those guys, and consider the fact that the spring evaluation period still is a week away – and the spring evaluation period and summer camps are always big for offensive linemen in particular – yeah, I think Tennessee is doing fine there.
