Been my #1 all along.

Mark my words. She has “it.”
If it makes the lady vol faithful happy, hire her. I’m not invested enough to really care at the end of the day. All I’m saying, as a casual observer, it seems to be a PR hire more than an actual coaching hire. As far as I’m concerned, sign her up today.

You’re only complaint is lack of experience. I’m telling you no experience can prepare you for being a HC at a major program like TN. You do more recruiting and people management than anything. I would think she could get find an assistant or two with experience that could help with everything she lacks in

I would argue she got four years of that training as Pat’s eyes and ears on the court. Few players have molded themselves in their coach’s shadow the way Kara did when she was PG for the Lady Vols.

Same could be said for Holly though, right? Plus, Holly was by her side for years and years.

I don’t follow it intimately either. But what I know, as a avid NBA fan, is that she has been approached by multiple NBA and WNBA teams to be on their staffs, and head coach for the latter. She’s resisted because she likes doing TV.

The Lady Vol job should entice her to come home.

And it’s no small thing that it will bring the fanbase back together and allow it to heal.

To be honest, it’s probably true that Holly is a really good basketball coach. I don’t think she had the temperament to get the best from her players as HC. The HC usually has to be the disciplinarian. The head assistant is normally the softer one. It’s hard to switch from one to the other.

This . Offense and defense are taught in practice, which makes you wonder what kind of practice they were having. Assistant are the real key . Believe she will be a great recruiter and that is probably the biggest key .

I was just in the Ebony Jackson thread. I found out that we are recruiting at a sub par level and the staff isn’t that good at evaluating players.
Yeah. I know what you mean. I mean, there's no way that kid ran a 10.5 hundred. Just look at the film. So, the time at the state track meet must be made up.

Basically the only knock on her you seem to have is no experience. Nothing is going to prepare you for a job like Tennessee. So coaching at another school especially a small one doesn’t matter.
Coaching experience absolutely matters. I would still be willing to give her a chance. How many Jets coaches had zero coaching experience before they were hired?

Callahan on OL recruiting for 2020 class...

I think they’re in pretty good shape. My guess right now is that Tennessee is the team to beat for Cooper Mays, although he obviously hasn’t formally named any favorites, and I think the Vols still have a shot at Chris Morris. Tate Ratledge is far from a sure thing, but I think Tennessee has continued to make strides with him over the past few months, and it’s looking like a Tennessee-Georgia battle right now.

The Vols also are legitimate contenders for five-star Justin Rogers, Xavier Hill of Mississippi and Terah Edwards of Ohio, and they’re still battling to flip five-star Ohio State OT commitment Paris Johnson Jr., who already has been to Tennessee twice this year.

And the Vols obviously have gotten visits from plenty of others who appear to be in play for Tennessee, including Josh Priebe of Michigan, Marcus Henderson of Memphis, Joshua Jones of Alabama and James Robinson of Alabama. And there are still others who have shown interest in Tennessee but haven’t visited yet, including Jalen St. John of St. Louis, four-star Ty’kieast Crawford of Texas and juco OT Antwan Reed, who plays at the junior college where Tennessee’s Joe Osovet previously coached.

When you look at that list and where they stand with those guys, and consider the fact that the spring evaluation period still is a week away – and the spring evaluation period and summer camps are always big for offensive linemen in particular – yeah, I think Tennessee is doing fine there.

Like i said before football is a totally different thing.

Baseball and basketball the head coach/manager is mostly about recruiting and people management. Former players that don’t coach do well in baseball all the time. There is a Trend starting in basketball now.

I just don't see it. There are some aspects of coaching that have to be learned.

I just think that someone like Kara checks virtually all the boxes but experience and in basketball or baseball coaching experience isn’t a prerequisite for success college or pro.

And nothing is really going to prepare you for being a head coach at Tennessee. It’s almost like being the president. You can be in Congress or whatever your whole life but you’re never prepared for the chair. Same thing applies here.
