It has been obvious that they did not want an SEC team in the finals. Both the two best SEC teams were denied by clear no-calls in the final seconds and then fouls on three-point shots in the final second. Neither of those shots should have had the chance to be attempted. I realize that basketball is a difficult sport to referee, and slow motion replay has exposed that difficulty. However, replays of coache's mistakes should be able to be corrected. They do review to see if the time-keeper has lost a second or two, but other mistakes bt the Officials are allowed to stand. Changers need to be made when mistakes determine the outcome of the game.

refs controlled 2 guys having contact on 3 pt shooters with a second to go?? lol and for what again? the blueblood conspiracy for mighty purdue and virginia? just no...

Maybe it’s because I’m s Tennessee fan, and I don’t trust the final score till the broadcast signs off, but how are so many Auburn fans out of their minds the second the ball hits the rim and only finding things out minutes later? Just bizarre

Devo, last night you inquired on why Auburn fouled twice with 5 seconds to go with a slow dribbler. They werent in the bonus so it causes UVA to not only have to get the ball in two more times but also reset their play and throw off time to get a rhythm. It was the right move.

Discretion should certainly be taken not to call anything ticky-tacky but this swallow the whistle concept is just plain wrong.
Yes, I mean ticky tacky, obviously. I guess my point is that if you are going to call that foul in the last play of the game -- then should have called the double dribble previously. Don't overlook obvious turnovers for one team, and call them on the other.

They haven't been through the Dooley LSU/NC game or many of the BasketVol games this season?

I can remember being in the stadium both times when a late flag caused UT to lose a game I'd thought they'd won. Against UNC, I stood there at my seat on the 35 yard line right as it played out. Everyone was cheering and my eye immediately went to the refs. I knew it was coming. He pulled a flag and tossed it. Told my wife to wait and watch the call go against us. It did.

Now when in close games, I don't count it as "over" until the refs jog off into the tunnel. Only then am I certain of the outcome. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the call itself. It's just a UT thing to lose that way. There's a loss and then there's a soul crushing loss. If there's one thing UT excels at, it's ripping the hearts and souls from their fans. We don't just lose...we really make it hurt. Not deliberately of course. I'm talking about the circumstances. It's just this horrible luck surrounding our sports teams for the last 18 years or so. For me, it began in 2001. Been pretty much the norm since.

yeah maybe it was the right call in the huddle, but uva was soo discombublated i think they were going to blow it. Especially on the 2nd foul. It would have been a heave from near midcourt. that is far worse than resetting on their own half of the court on a set play. but in real time all the kid thinks is coach said to foul and he did. meh

Point that you missed is they should have never had the opportunity to shoot those threes if the Refs had done their job efficiently. Maybe you don't read things efficiently.

Don't think it was overlooked sadly just plain missed. Apparently just a really rare play.

This has been an absolute garbage year for CBB. Michigan State had no business in the FF as they are not even close to elite this season, yet, they beat the Zion, Zion, Zion Dukies (he says breathlessly). That TTU/MSU game was the worst offensive performance in the first half of two tournament level teams I have seen all year. Neither team knows how to run a real O. They look like they use Holly's playbook. UVA is a joke - totally dependent on jump shots and the refs calls in every game they play to bail them out on O. Auburn's first half looked similar to their 9 losses earlier in the season, yet, it took three refs looking the other way at mid-court for them to lose on the non-called double dribble. The Vols had an open path to the FF while playing in the arguably best game of the tournament versus Purdue only to have the blatantly bad call at the end. Of course we know who got the benefit of it.

Which is how the last half of the season played out with the officials intent clearly known. It is reality and it was obvious whether you choose to believe it or not. Which is why CBB really cannot be take seriously until it is cleaned up from the officiating to the bag man corruption - which will probably never happen. Coaches and equipment supplying bag men go to prison, the AAU being openly known as the breeding ground for the criminality for decades, and officials blatantly cheating with an occasional suspension or being banned from calling in conferences. Disgusting.

how so? that or a similar play would have occurred had they correctly called the foul with 4 seconds left oh well. I weep not for awwburn

Because they wanted to be the first moron to throw the toilet paper. So they could tell their grandchildren they were there when Auburn made it to the Finals. You know before it got vacated and FBI and all.

Not saying I am crying for Auburn, just saying Refs should do a better job and the rules should allow reviews of Refs mistakes.

Started my 7-8 year old baseball head coaching career off with an 11-6 win yesterday!!

Took a hiatus for awhile after that Purdue loss, what'd I miss?
