JG helping out Shrout

Not hoping he fails, but if he is the same player that we saw the last two seasons... it is well past time to move on from him.
JG from 2017, ok, I get it. But you don’t any more of 2018 JG? ..... the 4th guy most efficient QB in the SEC on a 5-7 team, despite playing behind THAT OL and with less than dynamic WRs....with a 4-1 td to interception ratio....with a QB rating pretty much equal to Manning’s QB rating at UT (141 vs 147)....all while constantly picking himself up off the turf after getting blasted by unimpeded defenders whom our OLs and RBs never laid a hand on.

Ok. To each his own.

He was doing pretty well against AL when JG went out. Back to back, down the field touchdowns, then Pruitt told the team at halftime, we aren’t going to pass, but run the ball for the second half.
He had a habit of playing well mentally then making boneheaded mistakes. I watched his Stanford games before last fall to see what we might be able to expect. I went from halfway expecting him to start to hoping there was no chanced he'd start.

Yep. Everything was someone else's fault....

You can't believe what you're posting. You have to see his part in on of the most anemic O's UT has ever fielded....

Negavol, imo.
I am the farthest distance you can get from a negavol my friend. I am one of them that you see still cheering their butts off at the games where we are getting hammered. But enough of that, if you would have read the next post I wrote you would fine that I was just trying to get K-town stirred up. And then I said something decent about JG.

So what did Pruitt say since you are in the locker room?

How did they quit passing when he had more attempts in the second half?

He got them when they were up big and unfocused. Second half on more attempts they shut him down.
. Read about it, no secret. They ran with no success and then threw.

He posted stats and facts.

You post conjecture once again. Lmao.
And you... as always... take part of the facts and draw a conclusion that does not agree with ALL of the facts. Stats tell PART of a story... not all. JG had "great stats" on an O that couldn't stay on the field, score points consistently, or win games. He was easy to defend because there were certain things he could not or was not allowed to do. The "FACTS" are on the video. Someone might even have a completion chart somewhere. He did not throw very many passes where he had to lead the receiver to a spot. He stayed away from the middle of the field. They "managed" him. What he did... he did pretty well. But when you are scoring 20 ppg... it just isn't enough. To stop the rush and open up the run game... he has to be able to read coverages and throw receivers open... and use the middle of the field.

First JG was limited on what he could change at the line, what makes any of you feel that he was not developed by Butch any more than the other players? How many OCs? and what about the OL? JG, under the circumstances, has held his head high and hung in there for UT. Give this man some respect.

Go Vols!

He gets that. To his credit... whether his fault, someone else's, or a combination... he's stuck with it. If you are a Vol fan, you can't help but hope he gets rewarded.

That doesn't change his legitimate weaknesses that you would expect a guy with 3 years in CFB to be stronger at... even with multiple coaches. Coaching changes are pretty common these days. Bama's players see theirs come and go. A player could even use the different coaches as an advantage as far as developing skills.

Good, an important part of the game as a QB is preparing. JG learned from one of the better one's at UT in Josh Dobbs, so now he can pass along what he's learned to the younger guys.

Soft lob, ball on a tee, candy and a baby...

I just can’t........ too simple

If Shrout or Maurer are the better QB now, one should start. If JG, then he, but he is not “owed” the starting job for anything that has happened in the past.

Some don't really hate him, they've made it clear they don't want to see him get hurt or anything bad happen to him, they just want someone else to be better at the QB position so we can move on from the JG era. IMO that's the same as hoping he fails, but obviously my opinion is wrong.

I hope he lights it up and proves me wrong. Or, he gets replaced by JT or Maurer by the 2nd game (BEFORE UF) and one of them light it up and never look back. I just want UT to win 8 plus games and make a decent bowl. I could care less who leads the team. I just haven't seen enough in JG to see him be an ELITE SEC QB, just serviceable. UT NEEDS AN ELITE SEC QB to help for our other deficiencies elsewhere at times until the cupboard is TRULY LOADED!!! I truly believe the OL and other areas were only half the problem with the O last year. I think JG was atleast 25% of the issue. We shall see!!! I will be fine to eat crow should CJC make a difference and we see a different JG this year. But, I am not counting on it!!!

I am tired of this efficiency crap every thread about a debate of JG being a great SEC QB. It isn't hard to be efficient when you dump off the ball and throw a ton of short passes most all the time. It is a HUGE JOKE you are comparing JG to Manning!!! Those two names don't go in the same sentence at this time. Let's hope they do in two years. My money says they will not!!!

I mean its just getting ridiculous. I mean here JG is speaking positively about Shrout and it absolutely has to devolve into his faults and weaknesses as a QB.

It's been ridiculous since last season!! these so called football geniuses on this site make all these statement, then start moving goal posts when someone throws stats at them. The QB can't make receivers catch balls that hit them in the hands, no more than he can make the O line or backs block. the fact that he was getting hit as often as he was and still had so few turnovers says a lot IMO..

My thing is how ridiculous it is people put so much blame on a single player. Especially whenthe success and failure of that player depends on 10 other people.
