Oregon was a major player for Brian Bowen. One of their assistants (Tony Stubblefield) paid his dad $3k during a visit to Eugene.

Jeffries is the nephew of Keelon Lawson. I was just curious because the high level guys that Penny has gotten were all about his connections to those players. Watford played on the same Memphis AAU team as Wiseman, and that team is run by Mike Miller's cousin.

None of this gives me any joy at all but I Hope ever last cheater is revealed and dealt with. Several years ago a close friends son was a big time running back/defensive back recruit. He really liked the Vols but we didn’t offer. He did play and coach in the SEC and now coaches high school in Texas. The father told me several years later two schools (didn’t say who and I didn’t ask) offered “extra benefits”. When he assured them they weren’t interested in that type thing both schools dropped their offers. I’m sure it’s far more common than we know. Actually pretty pathetic to me.

While I am not naive enough to think that many players receive some benefit from a school (whether it's large or small), as I said above, the players that Penny is getting is about his relationships and connections.

I know Penny rubbed many the wrong way with his antics. But he got that job because already had the built-in connections to recruit elite players. Wiseman, Dandridge, Jeffries, Lomax, and even Watford all have connections to that staff. Tyler Harris and Damian Baugh are just Memphis guys.

Yea, but Will Wade is from Nashville and not a former All-Pro NBA player. Memphis has recruited at that level in the past, especially with kids in their own city.

For me, this doesn't lead me to believe that certain other schools must be cheating. Will Wade was cheating, and that's what we know.

You are correct. Penny has these connections but Benjamin Franklin is even better at making connections.....

The only time Memphis has been nationally relevant in the past 45 years was when they were cheating (Dana Kirk and Cal). Memphis cheating in basketball is engrained in their DNA just like it is for Bama and Auburn in football...

This is exactly the kind of serendipitous fortuity that has eluded the Tennessee sports teams for decades. Maybe it won't amount to anything, but it is refeshing for freaking one time not to be the team behind the eight ball.

The NCAA has known about this tape since at least 2017, which means LSU knew about it too (it's a reasonable assumption). And we all found out he was recorded a few months ago, before this season. But neither the NCAA or LSU did anything, about Wade or Smart. The whole snake is crooked from the head, only acting when forced to in order to protect themselves.

Very true. The NCAA is as terrible of an organization as you will find.
