It is good to be a Vol

When I attended UT in the 60s the Vols won the SEC football championship, SEC basketball championship, SEC track and field championship, SEC swimming championship, SEC Tennis Championship and they were good in baseball and golf. This was before womens varsity sports were introduced. Now we are middle of the road in most sports outside of this years men's basketball team. Hard to believe how far our athletic program has regressed.

Keep stirring, man.

A lot of my posts can qualify as stirring, but zero of my posts are stirring only.

I'd seriously like to see his post where he said what he said and someone gave him crap over it. I don't think it exist.

Indeed it is. I find myself enjoying basketball during the football off season. The men are fun to watch this year.

I remember when I became a "true Vols fan." It was 1974, Condredge Holloway's senior season. 1974 wasn't some special season. The Vols tied UCLA at Neyland for the opener. They tied Vandy in Nashville for the close. In between, they lost road games at Auburn and LSU, and they lost to Bama at home (the fountains on campus ran red with crimson dye). Their record was 6-3-2 (2-3-1). The Vols beat Maryland in a dreary Liberty Bowl, 7-3. But, I did get to see The Artful Dodger's last hurrah in a Tennessee uniform. I did attend 6 of the home games (camped out for tickets). Sometime, in the middle of all that, the "bullet" entered the back of my brain. I loved the Vols. I knew that I would always love the Vols. No matter what.

Hamilton? Love the Vols as much as ever.

Davenport/Currie? Love the Vols as much as ever.

The Haslams? Love the Vols as much as ever.

I will always love the Vols. GBO.

For the 1st time in just over 10 years, I truly feel like the Volunteers as an athletic program has truly turned a corner for the best. Basketball speaks for itself, with possibly the most fun we've had as a fan base that we've ever had. But it truly feels like the football program is firmly on an uptrend, as opposed to where we were prior to Fulmer's firing. Fulmer's time had come, but I honestly never felt as positive about the future of the football program as I have the past month alone. And this says a lot considering the 5-7 season we had. Recruiting and the hires we've made have given new life and confidence to the program.

It's good to be a Vol. And it's only going to get better.

It's not like I get a discount at Red Lobster for being one but yes, it's good to be a Vol.

Did you not see dondiegos reply to me? It's still there. Of course, my reply isnt

Ugh. You are the most prolific poster of negative BS I think I ever saw on this site. Your azz is here night and day, and you rarely have anything positive to say about the program. I think there's a whole lot more bama in you than volfan......volfannbama. Either that, or you're the most miserable fan in the world.

This one? Lol, what about it?

Then you have those that go straight to the football forum starting a thread, calling out all "negavols" right after the team wins a game they were not expected to win and then the following week, vanish from the forums when the team plays poorly and loses one they should not have.

And you have some (myself included) that take a realist approach that are supportive during the ups and down cycles within the program. For example, I may post a comment that isn't directed at anyone, just referencing to a past Tennessee game, player or coach, sometimes negative and vice versa. The post may even include some sarcasm to a degree.

Then the replies begin to arrive (i.e. not a true fan and so forth). This behavior has existed for quite some time and from what I remember, starting prior to PF's termination and picking up steam by the time Dooley's ineptness began to show.

Never ending cycle unfortunately.

Oh Im not saying that "sunshine" regardless doesn't exist. The last coach proved as much 4 and 5 years into it which isn't comparable to the current.

The one you describe (not to the extreme) is somewhat more understandable for a "fan" of a particular team.
The one Im describing (not to the extreme) doesn't make as much sense to me. When good happens you would think a "fan" would be a "fan" of pointing that out and not vanishing.

Yeah and there was one before it as well. Dont you just love all the positives from " true fans" just because someone is skeptical that the football team has turned a corner especially since the last time the stepped off the field was following a beatdown by vandy.

Who is "the one" you are referring to?

Yea, but he was responding to this.....

Yeah, I was tryna be nice and not throw out the champs of the off season stuff. Lol

I mean, I hope you never change, but if you don't see that even with your idea of being positive, you're still being a dick, then You're either better at trolling than I give you credit for, or...you just don't get it. Lol.

Didn't you hear. Vandy beat the crap out of us. You have no reason to be positive about anything.

Right? I swear, its like some of these guys think their internet image or ecred whatever, is going to be forever ruined if they discuss anything without making sure they show their disgust.

Then the funny part comes. They're the victim. Lol.

When you saw this thread, did you just know who was going to respond to shut those vibes down?
Bet ya did.

Uh huh. So how is it different for all those that preach everything is great having to secure their “ecred” by calling anyone not supporting their view as a fair weather fan or, a troll?

Where did I say it was different?
