i don't think that's really new though. fit with the staff has been talked about since day 1. and it's not uncommon knowledge that recruiting at TN is important.

and while we have some really good recruiters on this staff, i think one thing Pruitt sees a need for is a closer. i think he probably viewed himself as that as a DC at Bama. and i think he wants someone at the coordinator level that can be "him" for lack of a better word, as a recruiter.

he talked about that transition in recruiting when he took the job. the adjustment he personally would have to make as a recruiting coordinator to being the head coach, and not having the contact/relationships he's used to having/building.

the reality, we need both. we need a guy that has the experience as a play caller to run the offense, and we need a guy that can get kids to come play here. i think Sark fits that description. Chaney does to, maybe to a little lesser extent on the recruiting front.
Yeah, I’m not saying it’s new. But maybe we (speculating fans) should start looking at elite recruiters - not just offensive coordinators of good offenses.

A good recruiter who fits in well with the staff? Will Friend

How do you go from FIRED Bucs OC to HC in the same hiring cycle? Jets are cray! 🤣
It’s a copycat league. Execs want to find the next McVay or Nagy. Offensive prowess is the most coveted skill for many teams with vacancies right now.

Trying to figure out why most of these fired NFL coaches get interviews...if they were good they wouldn't be out of a job. How McCarthy gets an interview at anywhere other than Home Depot blows my mind.

Raijon Neal and Marlin Lane combined to rush for 5 yards per carry and over 1350 yards. Serviceable, even if not good. Just didn't get enough carries.

They were not SEC RB's. Our defense was so bad, our offense had the ball alot. I agree that Chaney can call some strange plays. I am not sure if it was his fault that they used Isaiah McKenzie on a 4th down toss sweep against Vandy in his first year at UGA, but he was much better with Chubb and Michel last year.

UT should get elite level RB's.

There’s usually a cooling down process tho...as in ONE offseason. McVay and Nagy were hot OC’s of PLAYOFF teams.

No doubt. The GMs interviewing these candidate probably feel like they have to dig deeper to find candidates that fit the profile.

I guess now it makes complete sense why KK would turn down the Houston HC job.

Not a better choice than Sark in my opinion if recruiting is the primary concern.
Not sure we could really say that other than him recruiting studs at USC but everyone has done that. He has been out of recruiting cycle for a long while and in that absence we have a new signing period and he has a slightly tarnished image.

Did pretty much well recruiting at Washington too.
