If it is, the guys we’ve been rumored to have interviewed don’t totally fit the bill of known elite recruiters.

But it could point us to some of the guys we’re talking to that haven’t been leaked yet.

With our current staff...i would rather have a better X’s and O’s coach if that means lesser recruiter.

Let’s neids and some of our other guys pick up the slack on the trail.

Serious question...you're talking like Coley is some hotshot amazing OC that everyone's dying to hire to call plays...Where is this coming from? He's 45yo and previously was an OC at FSU and Miami for a couple seasons each, and then WR coach at UGA for a couple years according to his bio. If he's so great why did Jimbo let him go? Why didn't Richt hire him at Miami?
I think Smart wants to keep him around because of his recruiting ability. Smart may feel if he doesn't promote him, he may not be able to keep him on staff.

I agree totally but I trust VQ. The Price report said recruiting is #1 and fit with current staff is #2.

Don't care for this guy, but he's right about this. Also seemed to put a fire in Georgia that they didn't have before.

I don’t know. If you beat someone that’s favored to beat you, it’s not really self-deprecating as he describes it.

Of course, it’s a fan chant, and like all fan chants, it’s inherently dumb.

If we're going after Sark, I do think it will be a long wait. Sounds like he doesnt really want to go back to college, so we may have to watch him strike out on a few NFL vacancies before he considers coming back to NCAA. I don't blame him one bit. College coaching is a hell of a lot more work than NFL, especially if Pruitt is wanting his OC out on the road pulling in studs.

I read somewhere that Neal Brown isn’t getting hired at a large school because he is insisting he bring his whole staff with him.
Isn't that what happened at Nebraska? I believe it will work for them in the long run. They started really bad but finished strong this year.

i don't think that's really new though. fit with the staff has been talked about since day 1. and it's not uncommon knowledge that recruiting at TN is important.

and while we have some really good recruiters on this staff, i think one thing Pruitt sees a need for is a closer. i think he probably viewed himself as that as a DC at Bama. and i think he wants someone at the coordinator level that can be "him" for lack of a better word, as a recruiter.

he talked about that transition in recruiting when he took the job. the adjustment he personally would have to make as a recruiting coordinator to being the head coach, and not having the contact/relationships he's used to having/building.

the reality, we need both. we need a guy that has the experience as a play caller to run the offense, and we need a guy that can get kids to come play here. i think Sark fits that description. Chaney does to, maybe to a little lesser extent on the recruiting front.

You're an idjit. You are trolling. You know that the argument is valid. He has had a massive talent advantage on every team he has played since 2011-12 or so. That is why if he is the greatest tactician ever, he should have never lost a game.
I’m the idiot for thinking it’s crazy and unrealistic to expect a coach to go undefeated every single year... 1546448264379.gif

I think he’s untouchable on the offensive line. Moving him to TE coach or RB coach just to keep him on staff is a demotion. Bringing in Pittman would just be a slap in the face.

It just ain’t gonna happen. (For many reasons.)
This. You can debate which is better but there is no debate that Friend is Pruitt's closest coach.
