I can definitely see that. I read somewhere Chaney loves East TN and wants to retire here. Pittman has a perfect setup in Athens and I don't see him leaving either. Are you sure about the dog thing? I'm not that informed.... :)

He got property up here? Was his wife a cheerleader at UT?

I honestly would love Chaney or Sark. A competent OC with Pruitt and Sherrer calling D on the other side would win some ball games.

and that's a valid point. at some point Coley is going to do more than just be a position coach. and if UGA doesn't do it, someone else will.
Serious question...you're talking like Coley is some hotshot amazing OC that everyone's dying to hire to call plays...Where is this coming from? He's 45yo and previously was an OC at FSU and Miami for a couple seasons each, and then WR coach at UGA for a couple years according to his bio. If he's so great why did Jimbo let him go? Why didn't Richt hire him at Miami?

Maybe they tried to give him an extension and he didn't want it? If we're speculating and all...
and if that is the case, then that likely means Coley is getting promoted, which still means if we were to hire him, it'd be considered more "stealing" than getting Chaney off a lame duck year.....
:)

the original comment was about "stealing" a divison rival's coach.

i simply stated that the coach on that staff they covet is Coley, and if we hired him, that would be stealing. not hiring Chaney.

Ron, you're missing the "fun" part of this all together. i dunno how good he'd be as an OC here, or there. i do know UGA and Smart want to keep that guy in Athens.

"The coach they covet is Coley"....according to? Why? I've never heard of the guy but you're making him sound awful good, I'm starting to hope Pruitt hires Coley!

that was a team effort. the o line didn't protect him, WR's dropped sure fire completions. RB's fumbled. Punters took knees. lol.

it's apparent to me that the preperation for that game was lacking, and that's an indication of a lack of leadership in that lockeroom.
Mark Richt has lost all control of Georgia!!!!

That sir is a rational, brief, lucid, intelligent, well-thought out response. Need to edit to add in the obligatory sky is falling if we hire <add any name here>...

the basic gist was they took QB's away from Chaney, and gave it to Coley, along with the new title of "co-oc/qb's", and gave Chaney "oc/te's". there was some chatter Chaney wasn't really thrilled. but that it was all in an effor to keep Coley happy. very good recruiter supposedly and good coach.
Kirby Smart announces new roles for James Coley, Jim Chaney on Georgia staff

Coley is now the quarterbacks coach, in addition to the co-offensive coordinator. The change comes after Coley received interest last December from Texas A&M but elected to stay at UGA, receiving a raise up to $850,000, up from $450,000.

Chaney, who had been the quarterbacks coach, is now the tight ends coach. Chaney retains the title of offensive coordinator, without the “co” in front of it, and remains the play-caller.

“I think you can always look at yourself and say how can I improve?” head coach Kirby Smart said. “I think we improved our staff tremendously by retaining one of our best recruiters and best coaches in James Coley

aTm sniffed around, (jimbo did want to hire him) and they basically doubled his salary. i'd say they covet him...lol.
