Serious question. Did Butch Jones actually play football at any point in his life? Did he play in high school?

I remember seeing the band pics and all that, and most kids can't play football and be in the marching band because the band performs during football games.

Anyway, no experience playing would explain why he wasn't a good on-field coach and just walked around with a microphone during practice instead of coaching any technique.
Pretty sure it has worked out for other coaches - Mike Leach is one example.

Found more:

Leach is atypical among NCAA Division I head football coaches in that he did not play footballat the college level. He is one of only four such coaches along with Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech, David Cutcliffe at Duke, and Chad Morrisat Arkansas

I need somebody to make me feel better about tomorrow cause right now I'm going down the roller coaster.

Austin Price said on VQ podcast that Banks has changed the way they practice in the LB group, bringing energy, speed, instincts and demeanor. Price said he thinks Banks plays at LB in a limited role this weekend.
That’s crazy.

I mean it is awesome but crazy to think he has that much instant impact

I think it's more of the fact he WANTS to play, he's bringing the juice and attitude that Pruitt wants. He's likely "earned" a few snaps this weekend in a limited role, if he plays at all vs SC. Price pointed out, not many alphas over there in the LB group and Banks sees an opportunity to be that guy and get on the field.

How did Sapp look out of place?? He had the most tackles on the entire defense for the first half!

He's listed at 220 playing inside linebacker. For comparison sake, Christian Miller and Mack Wilson are playing ILB at Alabama and are listed at 240. He's undersized for ILB, and despite having the most tackles, was there any time watching that game where you were like, "Wow, Sapp stopped that RB at contact?" If you trip someone or get dragged down the field, it still counts as a tackle, I guess...

That's pathetic if that's true with our linebacker group.

This may sound bad but winning or losing doesn’t even matter to me that much the rest of this year. Pruitt and staff has shown me: A. They know how to practice. Our practice and training structures are identical to bama. 2. They can and will recruit. 3. They can gameplan and adjust on the fly. 4 we can play well on the road. 5. We can beat more talented teams.

Yea i hope we make a bowl and win every game but I’m just enjoying seeing it play out at this point.
First time I've ever been able to do this...since the early 80s. It is quite enjoyable.

So according to you, Chryst gets the ball out quicker, yet still gets pressured the same. Stats are stats.

You’re such an easy punching bag.

I just don’t really think you know what you’re watching. Which is fine but at least try to have have a better understanding of it.

QB pressures are a subjective stat. And as a qb you are gonna be pressured in some form probably 75% of the time. So saying thatQBA is pressured on 40% of snaps and QBB is pressured on 38% or whatever doesn’t really mean anything to me.

Watch how both QBs react to pressure and how one QB takes on big blow after big blow and the other one doesn’t. Even Pruitt said after a while you can’t blame the OL for every hit. At some point it comes back on the QB.

The lack of leadership on this team has been a problem all year. If it takes a FR to bring the energy, play him. Hope JJ can do the same on offense. Maybe a few others will follow suit and wake up the zombies.
I have been wondering all year why we never come out with any energy, which is why I think we start so slow and are playing from behind from the get go. This explains it.

Man... just looked out my back door to see a couple of feet of large cobra colored snake heading around the corner.

Reluctantly, I head out the front door, cage the dog, and grab the hoe and machette... not really looking forward to this. I round the corner just long enough to see about 3 feet of snake drop into a large hole my dog digs under the foundation of the house. Now... I'm really not looking forward to this. This is a big snake. So far, it's looking brownish / blackish and very cobraish. Dang... is your boy about to die here?

I'm waiting, and nothing, so I go inside the house to look out the window right above the hole to see if I can see which way he exits, left or right, and plan the less stupid of things after that.

After a few seconds, he emerges, and begins to head to the back of the house again. Fortunately, I get a good look at it, and can positively identify it as a keelback, not a cobra. Non-venomous, so there is no need for us to throw hands on this day. That was about 5 feet of snake. As I type this, I look out my window, and I kid you not, it has appeared again and literally raises a foot of it's body from over the other side of my wall and looks at me before lowering itself out of sight again.

Did you kill it?

Did Banks play LB in high school? It is pretty interesting that he’s pegged to get playing time in an SEC game after a week at the position given we’ve got more highly touted linebackers who can’t get on the field at all.

That's been a problem for two years now, unfortunately.

A more even sample size would tell the full tale. I'll give you that JG's pocket presents don't seem to be as good as KC's, but the difference in pressure stats are statistically insignificant. One may seem to be a bit more surprised at the pressure than the other, but the hypothesis that KC is getting the ball out faster to lessen the pressure isn't verified in the stats. Add in the fact that KC didn't see a WV, Georgia, or Auburn defense, and this begins to be a more blurred discussion than simply stating opinions as facts.

I'd say we need more fountains.
I'm going to give you a little advice. There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball.

I hope I am wrong but I don't buy that Banks is going to play a single snap in this game tomorrow unless the outcome is determined.

Will be fun to follow
