Also I struggled with the news today... I had to be vague due to the sensitive nature of the medical side of it. I also wanted to respect the process the university has around news as sensitive as that as well as his family. He is a GREAT KID and has been amazing to get to know which also made it hard for me...trust me when I say this kid will do great things no matter if it is in football or not....he is that special of a person.
That being said for those of you that don’t understand it and didn’t respect how I tried to relay the message please just put me on ignore...much easier for us all. GBO
What's worse is the kid needs a win. He has been through so much and he is only 19. Football was his outlet. Just heart breaking. I wonder initially why such a good kid like this is dealt such a blow but I know that it is because he can handle it and perhaps his calling is to lead in another way.
The first concern for everyone is Smith's health. Smith practiced on Wednesday afternoon, but didn't finish the workout and it was determined later that evening that the blood clots had returned. Everyone involved wanted him checked out because high altitude on a flight could cause a ruptured clot. With the medication needed to get rid of the clots and manage them (blood thinners), Smith can't play football. So there's obvious concerns/doubts/questions about his football future. It goes without saying everyone wishes Smith the best. He's a fantastic individual who will be successful in whatever he does in life.
When Smith went out of the game in Charlotte against West Virginia with a sprained knee and missed a few plays, it was Nathan Neihaus who played left tackle. So moving Neihaus to left tackle would make the most sense. But sources on Thursday night conveyed to Volquest that it was Marcus Tatum working the left side during practice Thursday. Tatum hasn’t played since the Georgia game but did start against the Gamecocks last season. Other options could be Chance Hall, who is on a snap count and likely can't play a whole game, or redshirt freshman K'Rojhn Calbert, who has played very little aside from a few goal line snaps.
As Pruitt noted Wednesday, Banks actually came to the defensive staff during the Georgia game. He asked again after the loss, and the response was no for now and that the staff would look at it in the spring. After the Alabama game, Banks again asked to be moved and Pruitt decided to go ahead and pull the trigger now.
So what has Banks looked like in his first week on the defensive side of the ball? As one person told us this week, “He’s changed the way the defense practices.” Don’t expect him to play a bunch Saturday, but there are situations where they can use Banks this weekend. We will see if that happens.
--VQAbernathy won’t play this week. So the question is who plays safety opposite Nigel Warrior? Shawn Shamburger has practiced this week and should be available. However, he didn't play very well when he did play last week and he was one of the players who Pruitt was talking about on seeing to “play the right way.”
Theo Jackson played some and he has struggled with the mental side of things really since late spring.
So does that mean Todd Kelly, Jr. is a legitimate factor for significant playing time this week? Kelly played 19 snaps last week. His speed limitations are apparent, but he knows where to be and can limit some busts. How the rotation looks like at safety may not shake out until game time Saturday.
It knows what's upMan... just looked out my back door to see a couple of feet of large cobra colored snake heading around the corner.
Reluctantly, I head out the front door, cage the dog, and grab the hoe and machette... not really looking forward to this. I round the corner just long enough to see about 3 feet of snake drop into a large hole my dog digs under the foundation of the house. Now... I'm really not looking forward to this. This is a big snake. So far, it's looking brownish / blackish and very cobraish. Dang... is your boy about to die here?
I'm waiting, and nothing, so I go inside the house to look out the window right above the hole to see if I can see which way he exits, left or right, and plan the less stupid of things after that.
After a few seconds, he emerges, and begins to head to the back of the house again. Fortunately, I get a good look at it, and can positively identify it as a keelback, not a cobra. Non-venomous, so there is no need for us to throw hands on this day. That was about 5 feet of snake. As I type this, I look out my window, and I kid you not, it has appeared again and literally raises a foot of it's body from over the other side of my wall and looks at me before lowering itself out of sight again.

Thanks, HITR. Good stuff. Kelly had a big hit against Bama. TKjr just knows how to play football and I have mad love for him. I went to school with his Mom and played basketball with his uncle in middle and high school, so I'm biased. TKjr has given his all for Tennessee, so I'm hoping for a happy ending with his UT career and feel confident he can get the job done in these final 5 gamesOn Trey Smith

I'm starting to think that the whole reason for your post was just so u could say, "my pole is so long". Bwaa-ha-haYeah, no joke.
When he was dropping into that little pit, I'm thinking, "What on earth am I going to do here?" It's too big of an opening for the snake noose I made to really work, and even if it did, my pole is so long (easy fellas) that I would not be able to hold the rope on one end and go to the other end to kill it. It's a two man job.
I'm content to let this one be. He's non-venomous, and I'm comfortable with that.
I did come across a very fresh kill the other day in the road, which I suspect is a cobra.
I was taking a walk, and reached my turnaround point, turned around and the snake was there on the side of the road where I had literally walked by 5 minutes before, and did not see. I took photos to upload to VN, but didn't do it. Some cobras are difficult to identify. I mean you KNOW when you see one, but you always don't know if you don't see one. I was hoping to submit it to a FB group for identification, but 3 days later, they have not approved my join request, so whatever.

I appreciate the heads up instead of being blind sided out of nowhere. If I only wanted what the AD wants to release when they want it released, I would go to ESPN instead of here.As a critic of the way you posted earlier, it’s nothing personal and I don’t want to put you on ignore or anything. It’s really not a big deal to me. I just don’t get what the point of posting at all is when you can’t (rightfully so in this instance given that it was a medical issue) provide anything more than a vague reference.
In other words, why not just let it come out organically in that instance when you rightfully can’t provide details? I feel like that is more desirable than sending the speculation meter through the roof until the news finally drops.
Those of us that have been around awhile all know and respect your credentialed status as an insider. And I think you did the right thing by not posting any details. I just disagree with posting cryptically.
