Bottom line.......................CPF has had his time, its time for him to move on.It is time for a change, and i stick by this statement even if e muster up another near great season. Medeocrity is not the Vol way, but it has become the fulmer way.....God help us all:no:

No, I am a lifelong Vols fan. As a matter of fact, my late Uncle was the Dean of U.T. Just because someone has a dissenting opinion, does not make it wrong. I am just not going with the crowd on this.

OK, based on this thread, I would guess that less of 5% of the posters still support fulmer. Granted, we are a fairly vocal cross section of the big orange faith... but you'd have to think that extrapolating this to all Vols in general that well over half, if not 2/3 or greater, are ready for a change.

The hold outs appear to be personal friends of fulmer, or those who have an uncanny fear of change.

The UCLA loss was one of the worst ever, imo, with respect to showing how badly outcoached the Vols were. With superior talent, almost to a man, on offense and defense, the Vols called plays and used sets that ignored that reality. Sure, there were a lot mistakes by the players, but all of those could have easily been overcome with decent play calling (offense and defense). The volume of player mistakes points to poor preparation--and I don't care if players didn't do something they were told in practice (it's the coaches job to motivate the players to learn and perform). And, UCLA had even more staff turnover than we had going into the game, so time is no excuse. The details have been documented on this site for days, so I won't rehash them.

Watching the Canes game last night, in a 26-3 loss, I could see a bright future for them with their current staff. I just don't see that at UT anymore.

I'd like to see CPF finish his career on a high note this year... but it should be finished no matter what happens with the rest of this season.

As I posted earlier, CPF can join the board. I'm sure Freak would welcome his contributions here.

Makes you wonder why they get paid so much to produce the garbage we witnessed monday. Talk about not putting your players in the best position to win. Well you could run a "how not go about it camp" on that one game alone.

Losing to Cal last year, although by a much wider margin, was much more acceptable. Cal fielded a team with a lot of talent, made plays, and the loss was to a, at that time, great team.

This UCLA team was very different.

If we continue to play like we did against UCLA, we'll be think 2005 wasn't all that bad by comparison when this season is over.

Like I said, that's not what I want.

I'd like to see this team send Fulmer off on a high note, much like the Wolverines did Lloyd Carr, but stretch it out over the entire season.

LSU last year.
Florida and Arkansas 2006.
LSU 2005.
Auburn and Tennessee 2004.
It isn't some impossible feat to get their on your own.

Coach Phil is a great guy. He will soon be the greatest coach in Volunteer history. He has won a national championship and a bunch of games. He lost to a national power in UCLA, only because of bad ref calls, players who didnt do what they were told, jet lag, player suspensions, and the fans. I say give him another raise and name the stadium after him.

I've been accused of being a fulmerite... though I've never been one. I've defended him when I thought people were being unfair and criticized him when I thought it was fair.

It is a 12 game season. There will be plenty of reasons in December to argue that he should or shouldn't keep his job. I'm only interested in ONE after UCLA. Will he do the right thing and quietly or loudly send Chavis packing?

The guy is horrible and refuses to change. He seems to be insisting that he did the right thing in the way he called that game... If Fulmer won't force Chavis to become better or get rid of him then he should go too.

I had some of you going for a while. But seriously, I think the problem is Chavis and not necessarily Fulmer. Slade is the only guy I would keep on the defensive staff. I say go out and hire Kevin Steele and all will be fine.

Slade is a very good recruiter- can't say that about the rest of the defensive staff. He is also the only coach on last year's staff that I saw recognized by the press as being a top five coach in his area.

Besides, he has to play the coverage that Chavis dials up.

Incorrect in all but one.

LSU last year had 2 SEC loses. they needed everyone else in their division to lose at least 3 for them to back into the championship game (using the logic around here).

Arkansas and Florida in 2006 had one SEC loss. They needed everyone else to have two loses in order to back in.

LSU in '05 lost to the Vols which meant they needed everyone else to have two loses to back in.

Auburn is the last team to complete the SEC slate unblemished, and thus didn't "back into the championship". And they didn't even get a sniff of the MNC - oh the irony.
