My point is solid. So you are saying at the end of the year UGA wasn't better than we were, and improve more than we did? Oh, how did UGA do against UF? How did we do?

UT would have taken care of Hawaii just as easily. You used SC and Vandy as examples of how weak UT was but completely ignore what UGA did vs the same teams. UT won both games and beat down UGA head-to-head.

UT was 3-1 vs UF, SC, UGA, Vandy
UGA was 2-2 vs UF, SC, UT, Vandy

I haven't quite given up on him yet while I do feel that CPF needs to go; the main reason is he won't do what he needs to do and that is fire Chavis. Chavis is the worst defensive coordinator in college football and I have felt that way for years. The only reason Chavis's defenses have been any good is truly due the wonderful talent has been recruited. I applaud that CPF went outside of the family to bring in Dave Clawson and I am still waiting to see if the offense can be better than was shown on Monday. I feel that it will greatly improve(jmho) only time will tell. To me Fulmer was a great coach and held great promise but at this time I am not so sure but who would replace that will bring UT back to its place a the top of the SEC. Maybe Skip Holtz.

I always hear what a great guy CPF is and that he bleeds orange. Do you think his motives for hanging on could be self serving? Is it possible that he is putting his quest for the record over what is best for the team and university?

after reading the majority of posts, it feels that way. What i don't understand is this. If coach fulmer says nothing, he is not taking responsibility for the loss. If he says he is very upset, then he is accused of just saying what he thinks fans want to hear. If he wins, that is not good, because he will "hang on to his job". If he loses he should be fired now.
In the era of coaches that will sell themselves to the highest bidder (petrino, saban etc.) and could care less about anything but a big contract, i will always support coach fulmer. Go vols!!!!!!!!!!!!

go vols!!!!

that is the frustrating part of it all. He wins just enough to get the heat off of him, but doesn't win enough games to do anything noteworthy.

calling a big win frustrating. that's what real fans find frustrating.

I take it you also like rainy days, sharp sticks poked in your eye, wet willys, titty twisters, sadomasochism, self mutilation, etc.

What does extolling the virtues of living in Atlanta have to do with anything?

I think that's where most people are . . . wanting to see Phil get it done, but losing confidence by the day.

That's where I am.

Programs which want to get back to the upper echelon of college football (Nebraska, Florida, LSU, Alabama, Miami) make the necessary changes. Others more concerned with tradition (TN, Penn State, Florida State) will not. Mike Hamilton says that "Eight Is Enough," and most often Fulmer will get that done somehow. So, this is what we live with. I for one am just lowering my expectations rather than deal with the emotional rollercoaster every season.

I'll always be a fan, but as I and others have said, the only way change will be made is if there are enough empty seats in Neyland Stadium.

Yes, we clobbered UGA, after getting clobbered by Cal and UF, then Bama. After we clobbered UGA, they got better. Can you say that about us? Can you really feel proud that we backed into the SECCG, that we were a missed Vandy FG from losing to them? Lucky wins over KY and SC? No, let's not let the facts cloud the issues.

No, let's not cloud the issues. We also got better, but that is called luck. Wins are lucky and beating a so-called upper tiered team is a fluke. "luck" , "fluke" are opinions not facts
They are words used to describe anything positive Coach Fulmer and the Vols do.

He has a great winning pct. in the toughest conference in the nation. I can not understand how this can be ignored. How is his won-loss record reflective of "doing less with more" ? He is a Hall of Fame Coach.

Winning percentages are for the coach's resume. Championships are for the fans and players. Players don't sit around twenty years from now and reminisce about their old coach's winning percentage. They remember winning the big games and the championships.

If CPF does bleed orange as has been said; I hope he make the right decision for what is best for UT.

I also wonder what we will be saying if CPF goes on to win the SEC and plays in a BCS game?
