Amateur Hour Continues

Going off 72's post yesterday about presidents making little difference (go back and read it if you missed it). My point was, if presidents make little difference, why elect and then continue to support and defend a despicable person. I think you're smart enough to recognize the distinction between actual tangible impact on daily life (that would be $ for most of you guys) and the intangible impact on national consciousness.
First they would have to recognize what national consciousness is. Then they would have to look at the societal implications of harboring the rhetoric of the President while attacking the people and institutions that don't foster this rhetoric. The Red hat prevents them from going against what they see as wrong, thus the national consciousness goes in the opposite direction of having a civil society.

Trump was voted in to be a disrupter, to shake the establishment up , to shake loose the the nut and bolts that have been frozen in place and have made a living off the backs of the voters for decades . We should NEVER , EVER be celebrating congressmen and women that have been there for 30-40 years ... We have struggled but survived all the “ other” ones that pushed the “ This is how it’s supposed to be “ narrative , we will survive the one that makes us finally think of other ways .

Civility is reached when BOTH sides can agree that hugely funded government officials and their organizations have historically had reputatations of eventually deciding they know what best for everyone . Then use the media to push the narrative that anyone going again the grain is BAD. Take off the party colored glasses and look for yourself , there’s enough proof that’s been brought out to prove this . That’s why it’s most important that the Dept heads of Secret Squirrel organizations not be political .

I am on my 12th president. Liked some and disliked others but accepted and respected all......until Trump.
I honestly thought the idiots on the right would wake up one morning (within the first 18 months...max) and realize what a colossal mistake they had made. No president makes that much difference and no small tax cut or other selfish personal gain is worth the reputation and soul of the country. I was wrong about them......really, really wrong.

So you disagreed with the far left wing of your party when they called Bush, Hitler said he went to war just for oil and Bush lied/soldiers died?

I take it you never vote for the incumbent?

I would never compare Bush to Hitler. Respecting in no way means agreeing with. The invasion of Iraq is another topic altogether.

To be honest and so everyone knows where I stand on politicians , I first treat as snake as a snake with the knowledge that it will bite me , this is how I view all politicians . Now as for my voting , I try to do as much research as I can and then vote for the one that’s going to screw me and my family the LEAST . Once I figured out they will ALL , every single one , screw me over for political gain it made it easier to vote .

As almost all economists worth their salt predicted--the tax cuts would lead to more corporate profits without any real bump to wages. Data is bearing that out.

Define “ Real “ bump in wages .. is that when companies bump everyone’s pay per hour up , or when they give out bonuses , or increase 401k matching or are we just comparing “ real “ corporate profits vs “ real “ pay to employees ?

Stock market will do well right up until it doesn't. I'm not sure how much there will be to celebrate when all the economic gains do the inevitable reversals.

It's fun to ride the economic wave as president, not so swell when you wipe out.

I’m looking “ real” hard on that graph but I’m not finding those perks or the part that tells about profit sharing for employees when the business does really well .

That’s a sky is always falling way to look at things lol . Why not say hey the market was unstable and didn’t know which way to go until the restrictions were lifted now it’s booming ? See a positive 😊

Oh I do, but learning from history, deregulation breeds corruption, which in turn will sink the banks, then the jobs etc..

Believe me, I'm not hoping for it.

Yep and I want to ride it up, get off a bit before the plunge, then get right back on and ride it right back up again!

What if there were too many regulations applied to companies and after they were lessened the market went to Bull . We have to ask we’re all the regulations nessassary to begin with or could we have gotten carried away politically trying to appease all the different groups and organizations .

I guess I'm an anomaly then, my wages went up
Mine too. And my healthcare costs are stable ( still higher than before Barry screwed with them but stable), my savings are higher than ever before, my investment returns from 2017 on higher than the previous 5 years... etc...

But yeah. I guess I’m doing horrible!
