First they would have to recognize what national consciousness is. Then they would have to look at the societal implications of harboring the rhetoric of the President while attacking the people and institutions that don't foster this rhetoric. The Red hat prevents them from going against what they see as wrong, thus the national consciousness goes in the opposite direction of having a civil society.Going off 72's post yesterday about presidents making little difference (go back and read it if you missed it). My point was, if presidents make little difference, why elect and then continue to support and defend a despicable person. I think you're smart enough to recognize the distinction between actual tangible impact on daily life (that would be $ for most of you guys) and the intangible impact on national consciousness.
