To Protect and to Serve II

As a comparison in the very same community just one month ago, there wasn’t the same level of LEO presence when the kid Joe Daniels went missing in Dickson.

Clearly, cops care more about cops than other citizens. I don’t remember HWY 46 being backed up with so many out of county plates back then.

Ras more than likely for many it’s just empathy and compassion towards one of their own and the officers survivors. I’d say it’s more human nature than LEO conspiracy.

Do you make the same comments towards fire fighters that die in the line of duty? For other fire fighters to rally around the fallen fireman and the survivors?

Lol... So lot only do they place an exponentially higher value on their lives than mine and yours, it’s apparently viewed by LE as a classless insult to even point it out.

You have no idea what I'm talking about unless you lived here to experience this just in the last 30 or so days. WTF are Cumberland County sheriff deputies doing in Dickson?

No one has the same level of disdain towards firemen. Again, LEOs can do a lot on their own to change public perception by not siding with legislators and instead actually siding with the people they should be serving and protecting.

Well, most other professions don't involve the possibility of not returning home to your family each day for minimal pay...

I've constantly heard "thank you for your service" or "blue lives matter". But ask yourself when was the last time anyone was told to thank their farmer or lineman? Both of those professions are just as dangerous, if not more so, than a cop.

Doesn’t that go both ways...... where is the negative news coverage of farmers and lineman.....where is the message board convos from watching 20 second videos about how a farmer or lineman is doing his job?

Again, that is a problem that cops need to be seriously addressing amongst themselves and with the legislators. Their public image is pizz poor right now. If they were really concerned about their public perception, they would not defend a lot of these indefensible acts and they would not enforce as many of these ridiculous azz laws so aggressively.

I got a decent idea. When we had the 8 DPD officers killed here during the protest march officers from all over the country showed up. There was no manhunt they had killed the attacker. They were here to support and out of respect for the officers families.

Sounds like people have issues with their legislators.... the cops are trained to do a job and they try to do the job.... it’s that simple

I couldn’t help but wonder why we don’t see the same response when a non LEO is killed. Wouldn’t catching those killers be just as important?

They do sometimes.... don’t know the criteria but remember the man hunt for the guy in Loudon.

When your job entails decisions that have the potential to destroy lives then everything you do should be closely scrutinized. If they can't handle that then maybe they should look for another line of work.

I agree 100% with this but it shouldn’t be by us or the media...... all we see is a few second clip.... we don’t have access to any of the evidence...and in the case of mike brown..... how many media members, athletes, any other famous people walked around saying Hands up, don’t shoot...... they showed pics of him as a harmless child..... when it was proven to be complete made up BS.... hardly a word was said.

In my opinion we need to have diverse citizen councils look at each police related shooting.... they decide if it may not be a good shooting.... all questionable shootings become a federal issue if possible.

Why does anybody on this forum, none of whom were involved in this, owe you a damn explanation or defense about any of it Ras? Hmmmm?

Also... You really think not a single of the LEOs who frequent this thread work for departments who are involved in this BS criminal activity?

How the actual **** is that even a thing?

Been happening for years. In fact, as if a few years ago (maybe since 2014), it’s gotten to the point where law enforcement actually steal more money from people through asset forfeiture each year than criminals do. Well... I mean the non law enforcement criminals.

It’s okay when they do it though cause some politicians wrote down on a piece of paper that it was and, in doing so, actually altered morality. So it’s cool.

Can you post the link to that data?

Lol... Looks like somebody got their feelings hurt.

Nope. But since we’re all about demanding explanations how about you explain why any LEO on here has to justify the bad actions of other LEOs which they had nothing to do with? A few of you guys just demand it of them. It’s ridiculous!

And in reply to your other post I don’t think about the actions the LEOs that post on here much at all. I just take them at their posting content. You on the other hand apparently are convinced they’re all corrupt individuals wanting nothing but to personally oppress you? Sounds that way anyway. Again. Ridiculous.
