When he is trying to tell recruits that Tennessee isn't the doormat they have grown up knowing it to be, yeah fans screaming in the stands sure helps him sell a sleeping giant.
Until tennessee wins games they are the doormat they have grown up watch. No amount of fans at a spring practice changes that.

Oh come on now your saying no amount of fans at one of the hottest recruiting weekends we have matters ? So if 12k showed up in a 102k seat stadium it wouldnt reflect poorly at all on the program or the confidence in the staff ? Now you are just making up stuff .
I agree, but if you go read the interview by wanya Morris about the orange and white game, you would find out that that was the only live action he saw at Neyland, so having lots of fans there helps, considering he was talking about the fan response to him, I just wish he got to see it when 102,000 pack it out.
Yes, im saying until we win we are the doormat of the sec. Fan attendence at a practice doesnt change that. Recruites are not basing their decision to attend a school based on spring game attendence.
I see what your point about the wins are but your lack of awareness about big recruiting days and all the ways to sell recruits on a program is surprising .
Neither does what CJP said yesterday unless you are overly sensitive and I believe thats pretty much what the whole thread is about .

you are correct. it does not matter either.
Win and he's fine. lose and people will remember this kind of thing.
Of course, if he is successful, i doubt he'll care about spring game attendance again either.
No, that's not what "donors overall" think. It's what YOU think. Big difference.
I think this entire conversation is more amusing than anything, and I don't mind that some of us disagree with others of us.
I'm personally of the mind that CJP said nothing wrong, and folks who took offense shouldn't. *shrug*
When shark humper was hired, were you guys calling him a nc winning coach? Pointing to all his alabama rings as assured success etc? Just curious.

LMAO. Rookie mistake? Hell, even Stoops had one NC and played in 3 other title games and still called out his fan base for Texas Tech. Rookie my ass. Like I said, he's the HMF in charge of football. Like his comment or not, it doesn't really matter.
No.
People actually put more stock in the improvement that took place at Colorado State than his time as an assistant at Alabama.
Coaches are about as hard to evaluate at Alabama as players. Which assistant coach hasn't succeeded at Alabama? How do you know which guy is really a cut above or is just another guy reaping the rewards of coaching that kind of talent?
Florida has had two great head coaches. None of Spurrier's assistants went on to do anything noteworthy except Bob Stoops and he wasn't really a "Spurrier guy". He was a hired gun Spurrier found when looking at an NCAA stat book to find a d-coord (I'm not joking). The only one of Meyer's assistants that I know of who is of note would be Dan Mullen (and we don't know whether he will fail or succeed at his first big job).
So, it's hard to know. Working next to a genius doesn't necessarily make you a genius. Hello, Bill Belichik assistants.
Yeah, i notice that trend as well. Iasked several times in this thread how many saban assistants are considered good, of course noone will answer.No.
