Fulmer getting an extension as AD

So do I, and to say we have seen it yet is like giving a restaurant a great review before you even get seated.

And to Hell with black cleats.

man, what you got against black cleats?

'black cleats matter'. get it started.

So you’re the guy reporting the food poison outbreak before the grand opening! Whatever works for you. :hi:

The same people who were screaming for him to be fired are now praising the powers that be for extending him to 4 more years....If Pruitt fails Fulmer won't fire him...It will take an act of congress to get him out of here...Lets just hope he lights it up and gets us back to glory

4-8, 8 losses against SEC - worst team in 125 years of football - the bar for Pruitt is pretty low

I like Fulmer, but saying he gave his life to UT is like saying a politician gave his life to public service. Take away 90% of the money and they would have found another job.

LOL! Take away 90% of the money and everyone is looking for another job, whether they love their current job or not.

Realistically Fulmer was the best choice at the time he was hired. That said no other major program in the nation would've hired him as AD. Tennessee athletics are an absolute joke currently nationally thanks to the those in power on the hill. I love Tennessee and I hope Pruitt and Fulmer are both successful but I honestly don't see us being a national power again in my lifetime.

Just for clarification, how old are you?🤔

It really is. We agree on that. You’d think after what we’ve experienced since he left, people might look back a bit more fondly. Guess not.

Regardless, I love having him as AD. JMO

Some people would complain no matter what.

We have a Tennessee guy leading the Tennessee athletic program. A guy who bleeds orange, loves UT and will put UT first.

I love this!

This all boils down to money guys. There is no way a long term contract should ever have been discussed Phil isn’t going anywhere. Lol no one else wants him. The last ten years have proven that. What he has though is some good friends that r still involved in ut athletics that agreed to throw some cash his way. Until people stop going to games, which they never will, ticket prices will continue to rise and buddies enriching buddies will continue

Most of your post is BS. Why do you hate the guy so much? You didn't enjoy and the winning in the 90's and the Natty? Phil has been gainfully employed although he really doesn't need the money at this point. He donated a mil to UT over 10 years ago. How many nickels have you pitched at the program? When I see the LOl it sort of gives me an age reference frame.

He wasn't exactly kicked to the curb. He couldn't have made the kind of money he was paid while here at UT anywhere else. He was well compensated while coach here and frankly, let the program slide into mediocrity.

I'm glad he's AD, but some of our fans need to stop the BS about how bad he was treated. He sure didn't leave the program nowhere near the condition he got it in 1993

He wasn’t treated as badly as Majors was.

What stability do we not have with a guy who has no other ambition than the job he has? Fulmer wasn't going anywhere, nobody was after him, and I doubt he was threatening to quit if he didn't get a long-term deal.

I have no issue with him being here for 4 years but an extension after being on the job less than 4 months?

Last time that happened the guys name was Charlie Weis and the school was Notre Dame.

Apples & Oranges, as Phil simply “inked” his contract this week (up until now, he was “at will” employee, whereas now, he and the Univ. are under contract).
He even stated today, when asked why 4, why not 3 or 5yrs , .......... he then stated that @ 67, he doesn’t see much beyond the 4, as after he gets the ship righted, it will likely be time to turn it over to someone else.

What is the purpose? What has he done? This will lead to another power move in two years. A fight between admin again. Count on it.

I hope not. UT athletics has been in a funk too long. It's time to right the ship.

This is what drives me crazy about some in this fan base. When Jones was here all I heard was that we have the talent and should be winning the East ... if we had a different coach with the talent we would .. yadda yadda.

Now all I hear is excuses for Pruitt.

We need to face the fact that we were not able to secure a big name coach WITH EXPERIENCE. We have another coach that will need on the job training.

Had we been able to get Mullen, many on here would be speaking of an SEC title out of the gate.

Fulmer has not really done anything worth patting him on the back yet. Yet many are doing just that. If Pruitt does not win the SEC by year 3, he should be gone. That is what we expected of the last 2 coaches. That is what we should expect from him.

We should also expect improvement this year. If Jones is as bad a coach as some of you say and Pruitt as good a coach as some of you say - we really should be challenging for the SEC this year. The truth is, Pruitt is not proven so the chance he fails is the same as the chance he succeeds at this point.

No one had Butch winning the East his FIRST YEAR. And “improvement” would be 5 wins with 1 SEC win. I expect more because I’ve always respected (while hating his success) Pruitt as a teacher and rival recruiter. Your expectations are based out of blind spite and resentment that your coach wasn’t retained or hired. Your right to post it on here but don’t expect anyone with a functioning brain to not recognize your bias. :hi:

What are you talking about? Butch Jones had a 3 year honeymoon, a complete pass for 3 full years here. Only a handful of us were saying he should be winning at a high level in year 3, and absolutely NO ONE was pressing him to win in years one and two, before he was able to get a couple of his recruiting classes in.

And now that Pruitt inherits a similar disaster of a program thanks to your boy Lyle, he should be similarly afforded time and patience. And that’s what most are and should be doing. Hopefully in year 3 though, it’ll be Lyle Allen bizarro world in Knoxville and rather than realizing he’s NOT the guy to be successful here like we saw with Butch, we’ll see and know just the opposite with Jeremy.

Also, Butchna’s post was spot freaking on about you when he said “your expectations are based out of blind spite and resentment that your coach wasn’t retained or hired”.....that’s right on the money.

Not making any excuses for Pruitt. I'm saying he won't exactly have to be the second coming of General Neyland to post a better record than last year. smh
