Vols up to a 3 seed in this mronring matrix update...

The Bracket Project's Bracket Matrix - 2018

1: Virginia, Villanova, Xavier, Kansas
2: Duke, Auburn, Purdue, Michigan State
3: North Carolina, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Tennessee
4: Arizona, Clemson, Wichita State, West Virginia

If Tennessee can pass any 2 teams not named Kansas/Texas Tech they will get a favorable location.

Q2 is 6-0 on one and 7-0 on another. I guess it changes daily depending on who dropped/rose over the night's results.

I'm not sure why everybody thinks we need to work our way up to a 3 or 2 seed. The 4 seed is exactly where I would want to be and here's why.

It's all about the second week matchups. A 2 or 3 seed has to play each other first and then the 1 vs 4 seed winner. You're game against the top seed gets 1 day of preparation while you had an entire week to prepare for your first sweet 16 game.

The 4 seed gets an entire week of preparation to play the 1 seed, then they have 1 day to get ready to play the winner of the 2-3 matchup, who was never preparing for you until one day prior to regional final.

If you want to play in to the final 4, the 4 seed is the spot to be in.

Sounds like a good plan. How about we let another team get the 4 seed and beat the 1 seed. Then we get to play the 4 in the elite 8 instead of the 1.

Interesting theory, but I think the idea of the preference of a 2-3 over the 4 comes in the second round. As a 4 you likely face the 5 seed in the second round, while as the 2 or 3, you'd face the 7 or 6 seed.

To me, you have to get to the second weekend before you worry about playing in it, and the difference in playing a 5 seed and playing a 6 or 7 seed is greater than the potential difference in playing the 1 or 2 seeds, especially this year when there really is no dominant 1 seed to fear.

Except it’s not and mathematical history proves that, the better your seed the better your chance of advancing. Also, if you’re looking at it as what’s Tennessee’s easiest path to the F4 and assuming we win our first 3 automatically I would say that’s putting the cart just a little bit in front of the horse.

Barnes doesn't seem all that thrilled with SEC tournament from what he said today. Felt your team was at a disadvantage if you played on Sunday out of town, be able to watch selection Sunday and then had to travel to an NCAA tournament game to possibly play on early Thursday. He felt final game should be moved back to Saturday.

Agree and it needs to be moved out of St Louis. Absurd.

Agree. Rotate it between Atlanta, Nashville, and Birmingham if you want to move it around. All three locations are pretty central and easy to travel to. Or just play it in one of those cities all the time.

Yep. Even Charlotte makes more sense than St Louis.

I'm never gonna be for Missouri having anything though. They don't belong in the SEC. Need to take a hike IMO.

I considered Charlotte, but it isn't quite as centrally located and the SEC has no presence in North Carolina.

Birmingham's arena is a dump. But I'd still rather play there.

I think they should rotate it between Nashville, Atlanta, and Memphis.

And maybe New Orleans every 7th year.

The Big 10 moved their conference tourney up a week this year.

The conference tourney could be important for us for seeding reason. I hope we can win the next three games so if he decides to mail it in (not sure he would but I know other coaches have admitted to it before) for the SECT we're still in position for a 3 seed...
