Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

My info is about a call that Jimmy Haslam made. I am trying to come up with a way to get it out but I am not going to cost someone their job. Especially when that someone is close. Haslam was behind this. As I said don't let up Vol Nation !!!

Someone on here could probably get him a job.

How do we stop him from hiring? Nobody is chaperoning him. He has power to make a hire. Davenport will sign off as will DePietro. He is still conducting interviews. I'm usually a patient fellow, but panic is setting in that we will end up with a mediocre coach as Curries final "screw you!" I can't handle another decade of mediocrity.

We continue to flood administration with emails, calls, and tweets, just like we did on Sunday. We let them know we will not accept a hire made by an individual who plotted in secret to bring Greg Schiano to our University. That is grounds for him to be removed from the decision-making process.

Why????????

Can folks not see the issue? Currie has to go before we put a coach in place. We’ve had enough yes men. As long as he is still AD, that what we will be stuck with.

I've seen this post three times in two Duff threads And all three times you said your friend Morris worked at a place he does in fact not work at. Chad Morris is at SMU

Good lord. My friend works st MSU. Not as a coach. Just works there. He’s from Tx and his family is friends with the Morris family through ministry things, non football related. Make sense?

The ONLY way I'd be good with Gundy at 8+M is:

1. We give him 6 million for his staff/and a great DC... and more importantly
2. Upon his arrival Currie resigns

I respect where you're coming from punch, I just have to disagree. Any coach at this point is Haslam buying time for himself and his guy. It is absolutely bigger than hiring one coach. I know this for a fact.

Currie HAS to be gone first. And he can be, we just have to give the big money time to get it done. Vol Nation can do this.

Fire Before Hire.

Absolutely, 100% this. A lot of ya’ll have to rethink how you think about this situation- we’re in a huge staring contest and Haslem is counting on us to blink first- to say, “hey, coach ABC actually looks pretty good given the dumpster fire that is burning.” I would love to play poker with many of the folks on here, cause after the way you have gone from hardcore Grudenites to your current positions, I’d bluff you off the high hand time and time again.

Not trying to be a d***, but the game being played at the top levels here requires focus on the long game, requires a steel spine, and most of all, requires that we all refuse to back down. Even if we hired Gundy, or someone else decent, and then Currie gets fired, guess what? Haslam still won.

I agree, but as I said yesterday, even in this one thread this message is not getting thru - much less on the whole board and even less on Twitter. Everyone talking about the potential hires. The ONLY thing that will bring down Haslam et al is to put the whole Gruden story out in public with verification. If that's not possible to do, then people look at us that believed like we're delusional - thus the rest of the story of urgency to topple Haslam falls on deaf ears.

I agree

Top...men...

let me ask this...IF gruden deal was agreed upon as stated before, then why could that deal not happen at this point? If he wanted the job before per the boosters, and even currie said the deal was looking like Gruden what would stop him now from going that route

Gruden wants no part of this, and we are seeing the battle almost ending before it began. I think once we hear from Atlanta, people will understand that no matter what, until the Haslam hand is removed it's the same old same old. I wish it were different, but, as much as things change the more they stay the same.

Again, if these people want pressure from us plebs, they need to give us ammo.

Else they're just like the Soviets in WWII sending us all out to get shredded without any guns.

Please, name me the names that would take the job that would be a better hire. I'll hang up and listen.

For $8.4M? You would get a lot of top coaches to listen. Peterson, John Harbaugh, etc. But how many of those coaches are willing to share an office with Haslam? Looks like Gundy.

To the first, won't matter in a few dyas, and sure won't have any affect or effect come next football season, the masses are going to do as they are proven to do time and time again.

Without a major piece of ammo short of Gruden coming out and saying I was yours until or I will come but this needs to happen, I feel this is already a forgone skirmish.

I totally agree... except that Currie would probably have to agree to resign immediately.

But if ya think about it, Gundy is probably most suited cause he's used to dealing with a guy who thinks he owns the school.

This could be a blessing in disguise
