Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

I wanted Gruden. Currie and Haslam screwed us there. I can accept Gundy though I think he is overpaid. Chad Morris is a no go. I would be OK with Tee.
I want Currie's stupid butt fired tomorrow.
I really don't think Bundy will come here.

I respect where you're coming from punch, I just have to disagree. Any coach at this point is Haslam buying time for himself and his guy. It is absolutely bigger than hiring one coach. I know this for a fact.

Edit: this is a panic induced Cry for answers you may not be able to give (more of a monologue of despair), not questioning you. Just to clarify.

Currie HAS to be gone first. And he can be, we just have to give the big money time to get it done. Vol Nation can do this.

Fire Before Hire.

How do we stop him from hiring? Nobody is chaperoning him. He has power to make a hire. Davenport will sign off as will DePietro. He is still conducting interviews. I'm usually a patient fellow, but panic is setting in that we will end up with a mediocre coach as Curries final "screw you!" I can't handle another decade of mediocrity.

You seriously have a reading comprehension problem. I am of the belief and opinion that while he may be a solid coach, he is not in that salary echelon. You shouldn't need to double a man's salary to lure him.
You are seriously underestimating the terrible position UT is in right now.

AD is in straight up panic mode. Whoever they hire will get more money than they’re worth and more time than they deserve.

Is everyone still e-mailing? Apparently some of mine are getting read. I just received my 2nd reply from my e-mails. The latest reply was from the vice chancellor of alumni affairs. Maybe it'll help.

They didn't tell you to GTFO, did they? 😬 At this point, who knows what to expect from the Hill.

Let's suppose this deal gets done, then what? This does nothing more than quell some of the noise. Haslam and Scurry slap hands (or aces?) and continue on their destructive, rage-filled path.

The anecdotal paradigm is only shifted, not resolved.

Yes Squints.

Proud to say, I finally received a response from one email. I will not post the respondents name only the context.

Dear Ms. Clark:
My apologies for the delayed response, but I wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge receipt of your message and to thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. As a University of Tennessee supporter, your perspectives are important to us, and I will be sure to share your message with the UT System President and members of the UT Knoxville administration.
While I regret that this matter has caused you to reconsider your ongoing financial support of the University, I hope that we can regain your trust as we move ahead. Again, thank you for your message.
Sincerely,

Nice! It’s a start

I would put Miles and Kiffin into that category...both have SEC experience. Obviously, can be argued either way.

So you'd put the near retirement age guy who was no where near as successful at OKst as Gundy and the guy who caused our decade of disaster and did so poorly at his last p5 job that the AD literally threw him off the team bus as better options???

We’re getting closer and closer to who we want.

We got the G_UD_N. Just missing a couple letters. Let’s see if we can go back and talk about that 10.3 before we overpay Gundy.

Info I got:

$8+ mil is legit
Stillwater AD in chaos right now

Via third party, but one I trust and one that would know being where he got the info from. Don't ask me how well placed, but it's well placed.

Doesn't know outcome at this time.

Look around the country. What league has the best coaches? I'll give everyone several hints, it's not the SEC. The SEC has Saban. The ACC, Big 12, Big 10 and Pac 12 all have better coaches than the SEC outside of Saban. This was spelled out yesterday by Cowherd. The best coaches no longer want to deal with the level of passion SEC fans have, so they have been going to other conferences.

Just Sheman and Shepard on ESPN radio. Tifwiw.

Currie met with Gundy today in Dallas. Multiple sources confirm.

Decision won't be made today.

They don't think he wants it.

His 2011 Big 12 Championship team that beat a top 10 Oklahoma team 44-10, then beat a top 5 Stanford team in a BCS bowl, was extremely entertaining.

Now did you mean a national championship? Because we could get that, go offer Gene Chizik a contract and we can make your dreams come true.

Gundy has been at Okla State from 2005-2017

ONE conference championship in 13 YEARS ??!?! ONE !!!

you're excited about THAT ???? SMDH

You must think Mark Richt is a coaching GENIUS then
He won TWO conf championships in 15 YEARS !!!

Has Gruden declined for sure?

Supposedly, but, we don't know, and until someone is ready to lay the blast down, we never will know the whole deal.

As it seems, the old guard will win, and the new guard was not ready or prepared to step in and be the big dog. Appears the losers are still, all of us.
