Question:

Do the Haslam's pull support/protection from Currie and state he acted alone? Was he just collateral damage since the plan didn't go through so they can save face and hold on to postpone of power?

Just curious what more connected posters think.

So now we really know that Currie ask and Gruden said no thanks. Currie did not make that public knowledge but chose to let Gruden be his smokescreen. Total BS.

It's time to move on from Gruden as he is never going to be UT's coach. I've been a huge advocate for him for years now but to no avail.

I cannot believe people feel good about trolling our fan base, so all the so called insiders can "GTFO"!

I'm really pissed like many today, as UTK got drug the $h!t hole yesterday and now today by media and press. The fan base stood up along with many rivals yesterday and said NO WAY do we want to allow someone be in leadership at our school with this type of background. That part I'm extremely proud of.

We as UT nation will survive and recover someday. I'm really concerned now at the direction and coach that will come here based on what has transpired. I'm praying for someone great, who wants to be here and will poor his heart and sole into our school and program.

Hopefully over the next week or so we will have a new coach in place who stands for what our principles are about. I'm going to be 100% behind them as this is the only way I know to get past this now. We have to be united as a fan base and support the next Coach even if it's not who YOU wanted.

Go Vols always and forever!

What is with the train of thought on Haslam submarining other coaching options. I don’t understand that line of thought. Explain it to me please

guys it's time to shut this thread down and move on, like you broke up with your girlfriend of 4 years. Tears will fall, hearts will be broken but it's time to heal. The first step is taking down this thread.

respectfully, is this thread really bothering you ? why are you here if that is the case ?

if you don't like it --- go somewhere else and stop trying to be the band leader here.

when you leave, promise there will be no "tears and broken hearts".

have a nice day.

We are watching a civil war for the control of UT come to a head right now...I think at this point it's one we cannot lose, but may get worse before it gets better.

The time for Brohm has passed. I'll admit, after yesterday's debacle, he certainly looks like a viable option. However, due to the state we are in an Orange blood infusion is needed more than ever. I'm willing to sacrifice some wins to re-establish some Tennessee values. Let Cutcliffe take over, and let Tee be a coach-in-waiting. There will he immediate support for that, where a hire like Brohm, wise as it may be, will produce fan apathy like we've not yet experienced.

And that wouldn’t be fair to Brohm. He deserves a fair shake somewhere that is a tad less dysfunctional.

Schiano was never plan B as I alluded to earlier...even sadder part is I found out about it from one of Urbans very close associates literally as it was going down Sunday afternoon with a text “did you know you are closing in on Schiano? Your crew is up here now are you aware?”

Ill elaborate more once I have time to put the rest of the puzzle together and the timing around it but rest assured this guy was never even on most of our radar until the very last second....which is clearly what Currie wanted.

I am headed to knoxville now...then off to an another location to discuss what measures will help force change. We must demand accountability....pure and simple.

Atlanta Vol, I feel the need to say that 99% of the fan base is behind you on this. We deserve better than this **** show. Start a go fun me page to buy out Currie, Schiano and Haslam and the fan base will contribute. We want change and deserve better than this.

Thank you sir for being a true Tennessee Volunteer

I'm sure they will as a sacrifice but everyone knows the truth

Here's a unique idea....if you think this thread should be shut down, leave.

There are lots of threads I have never been in. I'm okay with that. What kind of idiot would I be if I went into one of those threads only to say it should be shut down?

Damn it, Luther, stop being so rational I have to agree with you.

What did he say? I can't open it at work.

That he applauded our voice, but that there are repercussions to being"the crazy neighbor" and that we would, like UF, LSU, etc, will settle for our 4th choice.

Basically because the fans are so passionate, no top coach is going to venture into the SEC.

This is certainly how it appears. It seems obvious that Currie is Haslam's lapdog and they tried to make a power play. My question is, did we just witness the "nuclear option" implemented by the opposing side?

Kentucky did that for years and they got John Calipari

Haslam has an enormous ego and has pushed people around for so long he feels entitled to continue to do so. He feels like he knows more than anyone else and only he has the answers. He wants his way, plain and simple. And if he doesn't get it, he will sabotage anything else.

Folks while you're sitting on your backsides complaining here, I hope to hell you're making you voices heard by sending emails. I can assure you, I practice what I preach, it started at 3 a.m. this morning. We can't move forward with a coaching hire until that SOB Currie is fired...as well as his accomplice Davenport. You cannot convince me her ars didn't know what the hell was going on. Send the emails!!!!!!

great idea.

how about taking the lead on this and posting names and addresses where to send the emails ?

I started a thread, but there's so much activity, it got completely over ran in about 1 minute, so I'll post here as well.

I called Davenports office. Actually got a live person. I talked to Alex Wheeler. He said he's taking note of all calls and passing them along to davenport. He said they are definitely hearing from a lot of people, voicing their displeasure of Currie. I asked him if it was like hundreds, or thousands; he said all in all, thousands are having their voices heard, but not even hundreds on the phone.

We need to go over Curries head, which is over Davenport.

Yesterday’s summary and what we learned: In the spirit of Grand Vol and until he wants to do it again, here we go.
Yesterday morning was filled with anticipation and anxiety. Soon, we had an update from Jason La Canfora, of CBS, stating that Gruden to Tennessee was still very much in play. The euphoria didn’t last long however as rumors heated up that Greg SchiaNO was in play. Rumors quickly became fact and it was on.

At its peak, VolNation had 16k users on it and wow, were we in for a ride. The news got worse and worse and when all hope for a better candidate seemed lost, the voice of Vol Nation was heard. Students rallied, social media rallied, and elected officials made noise. Headlines popped up everywhere that the AD was backing away from their idiotic choice.

Our insiders took a lot of heat as we had, no doubt, a record number of trolls hopping onto the train. Atlanta VOL was silent as I’m sure his hands were full. MIT Beav was active on Twitter and we kept getting those updates. Tuesday was on in the morning but like most, I’m sure was stunned with the course of the day’s events. Props to Knuckle, UTVolinexile, and Boro for taking on all comers in the evening free for all.

Freak joined us for a bit and reminded us to play nicely or else and for the most part the temperature cooled down. I’m betting that Ape’s reply helped as well. Somebody, somewhen asked SWFL to bring some pixie dust and Grand Vol just may have been the most angry of us all.

What we did learn was this: we the people of Volunteer Nation have a voice. UT deserves the best and alumni, current student body, and fans support this program as well as any other in the country. As long as that remains, we have to demand that our Administration and AD give us what we deserve. We want Gruden but we’ll settle for a Head Coach who has proven he can win!

Currie said he didn't expect this resistance

So damn you Currie
