Brent Hubbs a couple days ago.

“I don’t think it will happen but I can’t drop him from my list.”

You know why? Hubbs knew who liked Schiano as a candidate. Hubbs floated that name way back in October too. So he’s probably known for a while this was the Haslam choice.

What is weird to me is that somehow the Haslam name never gets mentioned by those who cover UT. So much power that we can’t even act like this was their doing. That needs to change. It’s amazing to me they are billionaires and aren’t smart enough to be competent boosters/fans for something they supposedly care about.

I think Big Jim is Hubbs’ source. That’s why he always knows exactly what will happen, because he knows who ultimately pulls the final strings.

If you take the PSU stuff out of it this was a TERRIBLE hire. Terrible. This guy has articles written about playing for him being like living in Cuba. He’s had his players dive at the legs of opponents as time expired. Pretty sure he even called a timeout so they could do it again. On top of that he’s a .500 coach in the big east a decade ago. A losing coach in the NFL with a checkered past.

We deserve better. Much better.

All of this doesn’t even bring in to the equation the link to child molestation stuff at PSU.

Truth

I think the fan resistance to Schiano would have been very loud a long time ago if anyone thought he was a serious candidate.

How freakin tone deaf is the UTAD?

Only way they could’ve sold it is if they pushed it off two weeks, acted like everybody else turned us down or was taken, and then tried to play the whol “he’s the only guy who wants to be here!” card.

An overreaction to Cutcliffe would not be a good move unless you brought in someone like Tee and named him coach in waiting and got K Steele at D coord.

Bingo.

It was laughed off at every turn. It was an insanely horrible plan from every conceivable angle.

...and somehow Currie sat on it thinking he was some kind of damn genius.

The "BREAKING NEWS", the flight plans, the smirks...aaaaaand now I'm raging again.

I don’t get people like Hutch

Currie was all Schiano from the beginning and this cat doubled down till the end

There are two sides to this equation. I don't know which are trolls and which are just being trolled. I believe this played out just like last time, I think a group of boosters went after him and for some reason it never got to the finish line. Whether that was because Haslam didn't want him or Gruden end the end just didn't want it of a combination of both.

Until TN stops letting Jim have his way, UT will never be anything more than what we are now. This man is so inept to what is best for the "Football" side of things that it's disgusting.

People are mad at Currie, when in fact it was Jim behind the scenes, pulling strings.

Haslam hates Ergen. Ergen wants a big time coach. Haslam has let a rivalry cloud his judgement to the detriment of our university

There were plenty of people on campus with alot of concerns about Schiano because of the reputation he had/has of being hard to work for.

I don't know that Currie got alot of feedback on the Penn State stuff.

It's going to be interesting to see where this search goes. I think it's safe to say more than just Currie was involved in targeting Schiano. I think more than just Currie will be involved moving forward.

That’s the best option in my opinion. Tee Martin and cut together would be so much fun to watch on offense and Steele would create a top notch defense by year 2.

We are trying to figure out where the University president and Chancellor are with things. Currie had the blessings of some key people in trying to make this hire.

He is back in Knoxville. Much to my surprise they didn't issue a statement tonight or have a press conference.

Trying to see if he's going to release anything on Monday.

This was from about 1:00am.

They can be rivals all they want. People are on the verge of checking out on this program in a big way. I personally see nothing from this search that gives me any confidence we will be nationally relevant in the next 3 to 5 years. The people in charge need to recognize they can’t count on 102,455 the way they did. They need to take actions that give people a reason to come to games.
