Well it is now obvious SOON is never happening. Never was, by an MOA being signed proves Gruden deal being done weeks ago was a lie. Beaver got us all hook line and sinker, he knows nothing

Take the hiring of the new coach out of Currie's hands. Publicly announce a committee of VFLs whose sole purpose is to get this done.

Also after appointing them their search must be done in complete secrecy. Sequestered , cell phones monitored , email monitored. Anyone talks to a Haslam removed immediately.

Well, we know that the following coaches are nearly 100% off of the board:

Patterson
Petersen
Frost
Mullen

The current Tier 2, IMO is

Taggart
Sumlin
Brohm
Chad Morris
Matt Campbell

I would prefer Taggart from Tier 2, and call that a great hire.

No Way Hires:
Leach - they just won't do it
Petrino - they just won't do it
Kiffin - they just shouldn't do it.

So, if Tier 2 remains unhired, I'm ready to roll with this scenario

Bring in Cutcliffe on a very clear 3-5 year plan. It's defined in the contract 3, 4, or 5 years. Bring Tee in as the OC, HC in waiting. There is a timeframe on this, there is a mentor, and there is Tennessee blood to unite the fanbase. Would Cut come home to right the ship before retiring? Would Tee be willing to wait a little bit longer? I'd put it out there and see... if Tier 2 comes to nothing.

This is nothing like 2012.

Currie is going to look like a genius.

Very "Vol Feel" to the staff.

Every VOL Letterman has been contacted, and offered a staff position... that's why the budget is so big... like 567 of those cats around.

Guys - you can’t just take Currie out of the search. He’s got to be fired and a new AD appointed. Coaches want to know who they are going to work for.

Now is not the time to hire Cut. We can still make a decent hire. Just gonna have to hire a guy with more potential than a proven resume.

I don’t know what our list will look like but we need someone who doesn’t wilt under the pressure of this fan base.

Matt Campbell already removed himself from consideration.

And as long as we are being honest, what if Tennessee fans wanted to raise a stink because they hated the hire? Lemme guess, "Just sit down and know your place, boy."

LOL so you actually still think Gruden is coming after what you saw yesterday?

When does the first public records request get put in for Currie' s emails? I wonder if PSU was brought up at all in them?

Great point. I just kinda sat back and listened when they hired him. Lots of arguments on Blackburn being a better choice. I guess it did matter in the end.

I've heard that, but Saban removed himself too.

Let Currie draw with crayons, and send Fulmer with all the buyout money, double his salary, and let him begin to tell stories about what kind of place this is. I bet he would listen.

It is mind boggling how badly this was botched. The university literally could have hired virtually anyone else and not gotten this reaction. Norvell, Venables, Leach, even guys like Tee or even a Jeremy Pruitt. I am still amazed at what happened yesterday.

Yes. Because there in nothing immoral about a state employee being told who to hire by a billionaire donor.

That is what blows my mind as well.

You have been spot on about the Haslam power the entire time. What in the world will it take to overcome them?

Men with absolute power do not simply step aside. Haslam rules the AD, and there is nothing that can be done about it. They are not about to turn away his millions to take back the power, because they have proven that money is the end game.

.

My favorite rumor is Big Jim stopped it after coming to the conclusion the optics wouldn't look good for his son who slated to be president of the university system.

I think the fan resistance to Schiano would have been very loud a long time ago if anyone thought he was a serious candidate.

How freakin tone deaf is the UTAD?
