Take the hiring of the new coach out of Currie's hands. Publicly announce a committee of VFLs whose sole purpose is to get this done.
Well it is now obvious SOON is never happening. Never was, by an MOA being signed proves Gruden deal being done weeks ago was a lie. Beaver got us all hook line and sinker, he knows nothing
Well, we know that the following coaches are nearly 100% off of the board:
Patterson
Petersen
Frost
Mullen
The current Tier 2, IMO is
Taggart
Sumlin
Brohm
Chad Morris
Matt Campbell
I would prefer Taggart from Tier 2, and call that a great hire.
No Way Hires:
Leach - they just won't do it
Petrino - they just won't do it
Kiffin - they just shouldn't do it.
So, if Tier 2 remains unhired, I'm ready to roll with this scenario
Bring in Cutcliffe on a very clear 3-5 year plan. It's defined in the contract 3, 4, or 5 years. Bring Tee in as the OC, HC in waiting. There is a timeframe on this, there is a mentor, and there is Tennessee blood to unite the fanbase. Would Cut come home to right the ship before retiring? Would Tee be willing to wait a little bit longer? I'd put it out there and see... if Tier 2 comes to nothing.
This is nothing like 2012.
Currie is going to look like a genius.
Very "Vol Feel" to the staff.
Every VOL Letterman has been contacted, and offered a staff position... that's why the budget is so big... like 567 of those cats around.
Guys - you cant just take Currie out of the search. Hes got to be fired and a new AD appointed. Coaches want to know who they are going to work for.
Now is not the time to hire Cut. We can still make a decent hire. Just gonna have to hire a guy with more potential than a proven resume.
I dont know what our list will look like but we need someone who doesnt wilt under the pressure of this fan base.
You have been spot on about the Haslam power the entire time. What in the world will it take to overcome them?
