You know what, I was just thinking, and we all need to take a collective lap for thinking Brent Hubbs was out of the loop this time around and had no idea what was going on.

He consistently named Schiano and we all laughed and hee-hawed about how Currie was able to hide everything from him.

WELP.
Dropped that name hours after the UGA loss.

If we had believed him that Schiano was a legit candidate, we woukd have rose up sooner...that's how bad an idea it was...we all thought it was a joke and didn't take it seriously.

Hubbs and Hyams were just protecting the university by not allowing speculation to build that we were after any big names or that anyone had turned us down.

Granted, their execution wasn't great but it was better than Currie's!

Will Currie be fired?

- Rob Lewis

This will be a grade a cover up and smooth over. Search will begin little will be said and some equally mediocre but sanitized and palatable coach will be selected for an extensively long contract.

We will pay in the end what we could have paid in the beginning for a great hire.

How much of this could have been avoided if the AD had actually floated Schiano's name as the lead candidate for the job starting when Butch was fired? Maybe they did and we all wrote it off as a joke. Next time they shouldn't be so subtle.

I was physically ill. I felt like I was about to give up something that I love.

And I would have

Yep ditto. And all the national writers trying to say this was just about not liking Schiano as a coach can EAD. Nothing short of a serious moral conflict like this could make me consider completely turning my back on the university I've been cheering for for decades and have two degrees from.

Hubbs did, and we all passed over it pretty quickly because we believed the lie that this time would be different.

Good news is we can get our tickets again

Better still, get Jon Gruden to outright say I am not interested in the UT job.

For a bunch of "hicks" we are tech savvy and well read. They could easily have planted their own version of beav.

Actually I'd like to pat myself on the back for saying it was gonna be Schiano the past few days actually.

When Hubbs was saying Mullen, Campbell, of Schiano. Then followed that up with "we can't confirm a Campbell or Mullen meeting but Schiano's name is surging". Was pretty obvious he was saying it was Schiano.

What part did the AD play in perpetuating the lie, though? This wasn't just a rabid fanbase desperate for something new. We've been through this enough to have (more) reasonable expectations than would we would otherwise. Wasn't it the AD's job to set their customer's expectations prior to delivering a product?
