If it is Tee, I assume Chief and Sanders both would be on staff. I would hope that he hires a veteran offfensive play caller though so he can focus solely on being HC

I don’t think it’s out of the question. The question is if anyone currently on payroll would want to step in and make the biggest decision (hire) of their life...first day on the job.

If we fire Currie, surely the idea of a year under an interim HC gets kicked around, right?

I'm so sick of this sh!t show. Haslam is going to have to croak before this even remotely gets better.

It's no coincidence that the Browns are the laughing stock of professional football and UT, where he's allegedly the most influential power broker within the boosters, has become the NCAA equivalent.

F the Haslam's.

Speculation in FF is that other members of the AD were opposed to Schiano, and an associate AD leaked the information to Wolken while Currie was flying to Columbus. Currie had been telling some mid level boosters what they wanted to hear, but he was doing his own thing. Frost and Mullen became unavailable.

High level boosters are pissed and want Currie out and would consider bringing Blackburn in. What really hurt Currie was the political pressure after boosters used their connections.

Saw from another thread: supposedly an associate AD leaked the story after he told Currie not to hire Schiano. Once Mullen and Frost fell through, he waited til he was on the plane and leaked it to cause an outrage.

I think it almost has to. The logistics just aren't going to work unless Currie is fired tomorrow and Fulmer or someone else is appointed AD this week. The search process will have to start over with the new AD interviewing candidates who might have already been vetted.

I was definitely way wrong on Currie. I’ll eat crow on that one. His resignation better signed, sealed and delivered first thing in the morning.

Not buying he was #1. Those saying he was are just covering for their own failures of what they reported. Remember 247 had Gruden involved this morning and LWS said peterson was very possible. Those two are the ones saying Currie ruined their reports.

Yay! New rumors and searches. :dance2:

That was reported on Vol Nugs shortly after the backlash started. I believe it, too. Whoever that associate AD is deserves a medal.

I say Hoke as interim for next season. Have a non-Halam stooge of a new athletic director hold a press conference on ESPN primetime at the beginning of the season saying "The next coach at the University of Tennessee will be making $10 million per year. If you think you're a good fit for this job, have your agents contact us at the end of your seasons. Good luck to all the contestants." And then wait. How ******* hard can it be?
