Try not to get into conspiracy stuff, but it is baffling that ESPN hasn't at least put this on their website.

Its on the front page. Headline reads "Injury sidelines Tennessee lineman Brett Kendrick this week" and then the article goes explains why.

yes saw that too...Gruden meter is bottoming out...If he was offered the Tamp Bay job why would he come to TN ?
Less work in NFL than college and no recruiting...JMO

Why would he go back to a job he was fired from? Makes no sense. He isn't gonna go back to Tampa I can promise you that.

they may have to move up the timeline for letting butch go based on all the unintended consequences.

They may, or may not, have to change the timeline for announcing the new coach, assuming the agreement gives them this flexibilty.

👍

I suggest you deal with and stop crying about it.

Seriously. You are not going to change what's going on in this thread. It's laughable that you're trying.

Oh, just my opinion.

I'm not trying to change anything. I'm posting what I'm posting because of the reason I am in this thread. Which I laid out as clearly as I can.

You use the thread for what you want and I'll use it for what I want. Just don't get so butthurt when I ask legitimate questions as if this is reserved for wild irrational thought only.

I hate to sound like a broken record. But Jesus H. Christ. If you have a problem with that. Stop quoting me. I've never once asked anyone here to do anything else.

There isn't information being posted about Gruden there, so I will stay here, thanks.

If you don't put people on ignore, maybe you can do the unthinkable and just actually ignore what I post in your head.

That's typically what I do when I read an opinion I don't care about.

That is obviously not true or you wouldn’t have posted your Santa comment and you wouldn’t have responded to my post.

Wait did I read correctly a few pages back? I know there are a lot of negagrudes around with their versions of things, but did I read something about there may or may not be a Santa Clause? I hope that was a mistake and they were referring to a particular clause in Botches contract. Please clear that up...Santa is real bucko!

If he's coaching on Saturday and we struggle or even lose, things could get very ugly. Not just inside the stadium either. The students on campus have been known to make a scene over a lot less. I really feel for the players though, I hope they won't have to endure this too much longer.

Poor guys..that would SUCK everyday

If it’s true (as has been rumored here) that Butch and the University have already negotiated a buyout, then looking at the version of Butch’s original contract that is widely available online could very well be a waste of time. A negotiated buyout would, by definition, be a re-negotiation of that original contract, and we would have no way of knowing how the “for cause” (or any other) provisions of the original agreement might be affected. In fact, they could have outright terminated the original contract and entered into an entirely new, short-term agreement.

Negotiating a buyout, while at the same time allowing Butch to continue coaching, presents some fairly tricky problems. This current scenario highlights that very well. For example, if Butch agreed to a reduced, lump sum buyout payment, would the “for cause” provisions apply, such that they could nullify that payment (in the event Butch screwed up during the short-term agreement)? When would the payment be made? Tricky to negotiate, tricky to draft - for both sides.

We may well find out whether the University’s lawyers are worth a damn.

With that flurry of OVs in late November, it almost wouldn't surprise me if that was the relevant date. It is interesting that the recruits come for the last game of the season.

And, Taylor isn't coming until December 9, well after the season is over...

the only alternative explanation that I've heard that makes sense is that coaches want croots to come when they have more time to spend with them. before a bye week, end of season, etc... Not putting much stock in that but it was an interesting thought

I believe the Kendrick story being released in just another sign that the Boosters are reminding everyone that intend to get their way this time...

It actually confirms my position

It is major league players competing against a high school team. Many of the boosters earned their money and influence in the free market. They have decades of experience putting together deals, hiring MBB consultants to develop plans, and applying strategic pressure to ensure certain outcomes.

The AA/AD on the other hand do not hire elite people to look at deals, love to hang around yes men, and run from obstacles rather than try to solve them.

It is not a fair fight.
