Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVI

Hey HearforGrumors...I have a question. If this investigation is ongoing, wouldn't it stand to reason that Butch would be put on some sort of administrative leave? I'm guessing it would look bad for him to be making the same choices on behalf of the boys this weekend that may have cause Kendrick serious complications last weekend.

I'm not trying to change anything. I'm posting what I'm posting because of the reason I am in this thread. Which I laid out as clearly as I can.

You use the thread for what you want and I'll use it for what I want. Just don't get so butthurt when I ask legitimate questions as if this is reserved for wild irrational thought only.

I hate to sound like a broken record. But Jesus H. Christ. If you have a problem with that. Stop quoting me. I've never once asked anyone here to do anything else.

I believe Freak was very clear about this.

I feel like it would look bad if these accusations were true and he was on the sidelines again.

Poor guys..that would SUCK everyday

I'm really not sure how they're focusing this week in practice and film study with all of the distractions and the lame duck coaching staff. I honestly would not be surprised at all if we lose Saturday. If we win, it wasn't because of preparation, it was because of the talent gap.

That is obviously not true or you wouldn’t have posted your Santa comment and you wouldn’t have responded to my post.

The Santa comment was to show I don't believe in things that are baseless. Most of the insiders here are posting what I believe they believe to be true. A fraction of that actually probably is true.

I'm trying to figure out what is what for myself and no one else. If you only want to read from people prepared to believe anything and everything that fits what they want to be true, then ignore me.

Also, I actually care what your opinion of me is, and whether or not it is accurate. Not a lot. But I do care.

It is major league players competing against a high school team. Many of the boosters earned their money and influence in the free market. They have decades of experience putting together deals, hiring MBB consultants to develop plans, and applying strategic pressure to ensure certain outcomes.

The AA/AD on the other hand do not hire elite people to look at deals, love to hang around yes men, and run from obstacles rather than try to solve them.

It is not a fair fight.

Then we will have the coach of choice soon.

So hear me out on this and somebody who has more knowledge of the situation please correct me or fill in the pertinent info because I don't know all of the facts in the AJ Johnson thing.

Here goes...

I was listening to a radio show at lunch earlier (Basilio) and there was a caller talking about the AJ Johnson incident a few years ago. He threw out the theory that maybe Butch has some information that he would make public if he was fired disgracefully or his buyout agreement wasn't honored to let him coach out the rest of the season or something (not saying that was the agreement, just in theory).

The caller stated the fact that Butch vehemently denied having any communication with AJ Johnson in the timeline of events shortly after the incident. He then pointed out that the newspaper of record collected the phone records of Butch, AJ, etc. and found that Butch did indeed call AJ 2 minutes after the police called Butch. It was a 4 minute call and could have been a call he made at the direction of the then AD (pure speculation about calling on behalf of the AD).

His point, which at the time I actually laughed out loud to because it just seemed so out there that it couldn't be believable, was that what if this was something that Butch is holding over the AD/University in an effort to "go out as gracefully as possible." I have to say I dismissed it when I first heard it, as impossible. But I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. First it was AJ, then the supposed Mack Crowder incident, then the Hurd lies, now Kendrick... I hate "what ifs," but man, this is tearing up my brain.

What if the altercation Sunday between Butch and Currie had something to do with this. Say Currie was ready to let Butch go after losing to Kentucky and the Kendrick situation. Butch says no, you have to stand by the agreement we made after the UGA game that he gets to finish out the season or else he sings like a canary.

I don't know. I'm just ready to believe anything regarding why this clown is still here. It makes no sense that he is still trotting out there representing our Power T unless he has some kind of leverage.

Again, this is pure conjecture. And someone please set me straight if this is way off base.

Thanks!

M

Curious here. When would you expect to see our other coaches putting out feelers? They have to know they won't be working for Butch much longer.

Cancelling recruiting visits doesn't surprise me... have you seen any of our games recently? Smart to avoid the on-field distractions.

I can't even concentrate because I'm on this thread 24/7. My boss would less than happy checking my browsing history.

Can't imagine being a player.

yes saw that too...Gruden meter is bottoming out...If he was offered the Tamp Bay job why would he come to TN ?
Less work in NFL than college and no recruiting...JMO

I just don't understand this attitude.

I have to go to work every day. It's a job. I take positions inside that job, to work less.

People that do what they love, could give a rip about less work. Famers put in daylight to dark. Hunting and fishing guides go days on 3-4 hours sleep. Money and difficulty of the task, take a back seat when one does what they love. IMO
