Official Jon Gruden Thread XXIV

Butch acts like a man who knows his fate. Resigned to the outcome, and unlike is, aware of it.

The change in his level of engagement after Georgia is significant.

The lack of active recruiting is significant.

Currie's apparent frustration seems more like the internal stress of knowing the best thing for the "program" is letting Butch finish the season, but knowing that each loss will increase the noise.

The "program" is far more than the win/loss record of a season.

Currie's apparent lack of urgency looks like a man who knows the outcome.

Obsessing over semantics regarding Beaver's insistence that the deal is done is missing the bigger picture. The major players agree in principle, then the rest work out the details. The deal is essentially done after the first part, but not legally done until after the papers are signed.

Not selling. Influencing. He said people from MIT dont predict the future they influence it.

Its a done deal on the booster end. The nerds in admin are holding it up. He came here to give the fanbase the info it wants to put pressure on the admin.

All makes perfect sense now. Gruden is 100% done on the money end and Gruden is on board. UTAD IS NOT.

I think there is one booster, who wasn't so willing, but it must pass the school now. And they don't want to give up power. Why would they? They have had it so long. Gruden is 100% upon his terms.

Here's my translation...the deal the boosters have cooked up has been agreed to by Gruden. I do not think the hang up is the academic side of UT. I believe we have the Haslams vs the rest of the boosters. The Beav, bubba, today's news blitz with the details on the contract are all apart of a campaign to make sure everyone knows that this deal was real and agreed to. And if it doesn't come through it is because if the Haslams. For a family in politics, it would create a tremendous amount of public pressure that could call their hand.

Yep jinx, sort of.

It was said that the boosters dont want to give up their money but yet be told to butt out. This is what Gruden wants, boosters to gtfo...

Or

Its typical UT BOT power struggles a la 2012.

I remember the talk of BOT meeting that I even watched live stream due to 2012...

You are busy putting out some fires today. I'm sorry I have been throwing some gas on some of these. Trying to reconcile anger/facts/innuendo/complete BS, etc...can make me a tad belligerent.

This is what I do.

I have extreme logic in even the most harrowing circumstances.

I can totally see and believe this.... but if the deal IS NOT signed yet it CANNOT be 100%..... That is the point both he, I and others are making....

I like the way Atlanta Vol put it 65-70% ... That makes sense but 100% just does not

Read my last few posts, coasty. Don’t get hung up on the semantics of 100%. If I knew gruden said ok to a deal I’d call it done too. But that said that deal still requires admin signoff. And that’s the “apply pressure” part it seems the booster side is trying to force.

Friendly reminder ...

During the time that DTO was saying the deal was off, Boro later said someone else made an offer to Gruden and he was talking to them....

When asked by me and others his only response was, he would not say who it was because it would have been to volatile....

I have always believed in my mind that it was the Gators... If true, they may now be in play :cray:

Exactly. To say it's 100% done is one thing. To say the deal still has to be agreed upon is another. But both of these things cannot be true.

If Florida announces some fantastic hire or even a Frost- unproven-on-a-big-stage hire, they still acted swiftly and kept the fanbase from getting to the boiling point.

The way it really works is as long as a coach is employed by a university or NFL owner, before discussing a job with them, the hiring AD has to ask permission to talk with them. It's a formality and professional courtesy but it is adhered to by 90% of the people coaching. If you are an owner or AD you're probably not going to want your current coach discussing another job while your current season is underway and you're paying him, no distractions until the season is done is usually the way it works. All bets are off as soon as the last game is completed though and traditionally we see coaches jumping around before bowl games are even played, rarely do you see it occur during the season. So no, I do not see UF announcing anybody until the current season ends unless they hire someone not coaching today. That's my opinion.

Very much holding strong on 100% done on Gruden. This place is volatile after the really tough loss which is why most insiders are not coming around (people will accuse them or go off of the deep end).

UT can’t afford what happens if they reject the Gruden deal. They like to build too many new buildings and construction projects to afford to piss off the people who put this thing together. Also, this time is very very different from 2012 between the players involved and Gruden’s situation.

Reject the Gruden deal? You have been saying for days that it is done. Looks like this catching up to you.

DTO has steadfastly said that Butch was told that he wasn't going to be back in 18 right after the GA game. Everyone's favorite and most trusted insider (and I like and respect him too) LWSVOL confirmed this morning that what DTO posted was true. So TIFWIW.

There was a meeting after the Georgia game. This is when it was ultimately decided but the plan has been I the works for about a year.

It is likely a combination.

Knowing how backwards the AA side of it is, I could see them telling the boosters and Gruden to pound sand if they think it will allow them to keep their power.

Am I not the only one sick of the Haslam ego and childish behavior tearing down UT athletics? I'm sure he will find a way to blow this up just like 2012.

Which part cannot be 100%? He agreed or there is no opening yet? Both are 100%.

You better shut your mouth!

As a recruiter we have an industry truism .. Time kills all deals. Status quo changes by the moment with peoples lives especially a re-location of family deal. I am so pissed I can spit nails right now with adm. Currie.. they need to get off their a$$es or we are headed for 20 years in the wilderness

He does seem somewhat at ease since Georgia. Like a man who knows that his fate is sealed. But that could also just be because he knows being fired is inevitable.

The deal could be agreed apon by the main players but not all agree . Maybe they are trying to get all on board before finalizing it

And most of the wins are against projected playoff teams. Finally have some depth and Ben McLemore hasn't even played yet. I went to the Dallas game the other night. They blew a huge lead and salvaged the win in the end. I'm all Griz and Titan right now. Oh and Gruden. Lol
