To Protect and to Serve II

Moral of the story, don't give consent to search.

I actually commended an 18 year old kid for not allowing me to search, after we were called by an "anonymous person," who stated that she was dealing drugs.

She wasn't (as far as I know); she had met her grandmother in the parking lot in front of a gas station to borrow some money. When she and her grandmother exchanged the money, someone thought they had witnessed a drug deal and called us.

I wouldn't have been doing my job if I hadn't asked and she would not have been exercising her constitutional rights if she had consented. I was impressed.

I complimented her to her grandparents, after they showed up 5 minutes after our arrival, for not consenting to a search. They were very nice and thanked me for doing my job.

Everyone walked away happy.

Wait, you mean you didn't shoot anyone?

How could that be? I thought all you cops were racist scumbags just waiting to pop a cap in anyone.

You left out the part where we can't wait to violate/infringe upon your constitutional rights...get it right, GV. :p

Wish you could be cloned for all LEOs.

Not especially, no.

I hope that the offender got the treatment he deserved.

He didn't. Three people involved and the only ones that went to the hospital were the two kpd officers. They took the guy to get blood drawn and he refused. They had to get a court order. Obviously they are worried about diseases.

Edit: lol, sorry. I'll take it down.

If cops are looking for a,kid and ask to check your house, there's a reason beyond you just live in the neighborhood.

And if they're looking for a missing kid, go inside and call the name and see a little pot, they are going to tell you to get rid of it and walk on out as they have other things to do and have the discretion to ignore it. They see scales and packages of it, you might have a problem.

Yeah, they just might do that. And then again, they might just come back when their not quite so busy.

Lol, all good. You just never know how people are going to react on this job.

The dude had some homemade license plate stating he was a sovereign citizen and didn't have to have one and same with a driver's license. Said he was part of one Hebrew national group. I thought that was a brand of hotdogs.

The instructor in our class told us there's no need to volunteer the information. The officer can see if you have a carry permit when he runs your tags/license. If he wants to know if you're carrying he'll ask.

I can't remember where the guy that taught our class worked. He was either with Shelby Country Sheriff dept, Tipton County Sheriff dept, or state trooper.

Here once you go 81 with a vehicle dispatch will let you know the person has a valid gun permit.

You may not be required to divulge whether you have a cc permit or have one but I think it's a courtesy to let the officer know and where it is. After all, he may know you possess a carry permit but he doesn't know whether you have a firearm with you at the time. Keep in mind he's approaching your vehicle not knowing anything about you or what he might find. It's like picking up a rock in the desert knowing there could be a rattlesnake under that rock.

I've been stopped 2-3 times and volunteered each time that I was a cc holder, and I was or wasn't carrying at the time. Each time the officer was very appreciative of me for telling him and each time they let me go without a citation.

Nothing wrong with being civil during a stop.

"Every officer must uphold the rule of reason, a rule that compels a degree of courage, a measure of discipline, and a tolerance for risk that is inherent in the job that they’ve chosen. The vast majority of officers are up to that challenge. A few are not. They must be held accountable. Justice demands no less." - David French

He had a place down there already, yet spent $8000 to bring her here? He should go to jail for being stupid. Why bring here here for here to become a feminist?
