To Protect and to Serve II

Legal terminology.

How would you put their mind at ease the child wasn't on your property?

You've got me interested... what is the legal difference between search and inspect?

Is the average citizen expected to know the difference in the two legal terms?

Something that's in plain view versus something within a vehicle, domicile, etc. that is not and would require further inspection with either consent to search from either the property owner or occupant or a search warrant.

Not my problem. I would gladly search my property for the child. There is a deputy who lives down the road, I trust him and would let him look.

So hypothetically, if I personally gave you the permission to do an inspection, would you pinky promise to only inspect and not search?

There would have to be probable cause for a search. Looking for a lost child doesn't constitute PC. It's safety related as opposed to law enforcement.

I'd be sceeered.

I probably should go ahead and toss out the disclaimer that Hog and I are just funning around and I would never do such things. I know Ras will probably think I'm serious and go all bat**** cray cray on the comments I've posted between Hog and myself, so I need to make sure that everyone is aware it's in good humor and doesn't represent what would happen in real life.

If cops are looking for a,kid and ask to check your house, there's a reason beyond you just live in the neighborhood.

And if they're looking for a missing kid, go inside and call the name and see a little pot, they are going to tell you to get rid of it and walk on out as they have other things to do and have the discretion to ignore it. They see scales and packages of it, you might have a problem.

I was actually talking about the exterior property, not inside.

Calm down, counselor.
