Josh Dobbs - NFL Draft thread (merged)

Aaron Rodgers fall was actually predicted by Mike Mayock. Around this time in 2005 (a few days before the draft) word came out that the 49ers chose Alex Smith over Aaron Rodgers. After that happened many experts like Mayock started predicting that Rodgers would fall. Mayock even predicted the Packers would take him at 25.

No. That is not exactly the way it happened. Mayock believed that SF preferred Alex Smith. He speculated that since most of the other teams near the top of that draft did not need a quarterback, that it was possible that Aaron Rodgers could fall all the way down to the 24th pick for the Packers. Nobody other than SF management knew for certain until the day of the draft whether SF would draft Smith or Rogers, and Green Bay expected Rodgers to be long gone by the time their pick arrived. To his credit, Mayock actually issued a mock draft with Rodgers falling to GB at #24. Most people thought Mayock was nuts.

Not really. Its one part of what can make someone intelligent. But it is not an all encompassing test of general intelligence.

It's basically used as an employment aptitude test. I'm slightly surprised someone in Dobbs' field of study didn't crack the 30s, but no big deal.

not stratospheric. It was still a decent 29 and won't hurt his draft stock. Nathan Peterman scored a 33. Trevor knight and Brad Kayaa also had higher scores than Dobbs. It's just one test, but thought it was interesting considering how Dobbs is known for his brains. I'm proud of Dobbs and I'm looking forward to seeing what his future holds, on and off the field!

Does a low score ever hurt anyone? Vince young and Jamarcus Russell immediately come to mind.

Did you really think the Wonderlic was a test of intelligence?

Didn't you start a thread just the other day over AK getting a better score than other RB rated higher than him? As if it were something that showed he should be drafted higher and that you've "always known he was a smart kid". Which is in itself a BS statement about his intelligence and what you know of it.

Not if you have the talent of a top 10 pick. For Dobbs it will hurt his draft grade since he doesn't have that level of talent. Hopefully he interviewed well and a team falls in love with him and drafts him high

He did. He also didn't realize a 24 meant average intelligence.

If a train leaves Chicago at 7 am, and a fruit fly, eats an apple in 4 hours, how many fools will pay Scout to tell them which college signed the number 7 class and see it as a victory over the eighth rated team...?
