Dobbs at the Combine

It was also faster than all the RBs other than Chris McCaffrey and most of the WRs.

6.75 in the 3-cone is a very impressive time. It shows elite change of directio ability.

It shows he has good body control, it shows he won't have trouble with his footwork getting to an NFL level. He shows he is disiplined and can be taught.

And you guys were getting on me for saying if Dobbs didn't sandbag the 40 he would get moved to another position by NFL teams?

Trevor Knight dominated the athletic testing for QBs at the combine and here come the scouts wanting to move him to WR or S. Its funny that they ignored the fact Knight threw the ball better at the combine than Deshone Kizer (a guy they think is a first rounder).

I told y'all this would happen.

That's not what the article said.

... And Dobbs still doesn't run 4.5

He ran the 3-cone after his amazing passing performance during the on-field drills.

Probably thought it was finally safe to show his elite athleticism.

Does anyone on this board know D4H personally? You either have a questionable-kinda odd, definitely creepy-obsession with Dobbs, or you are pulling off a lengthy, elaborate troll.... Because there is no way you are TRULY this out of touch with reality, right?

What gets me most is; I actually really, really like Dobbs and have the utmost respect for him as a person and a Vol... But I find myself arguing with you (or at the very least saying 2-3 four letter words out loud wishing you could hear me), and I'm having to somewhat talk down or against Dobbs and his talents and worth and accomplishments, just by attempting to reel you back in from whatever fantasy land you're in when you talk about him. It makes my fanhood feel all out of whack, and I don't like that.

You must be a glutton for punishment, though. You keep coming back, day after day, thread after thread, most likely donning some strange homemade Dobbs 4 Heisman t-shirt, and you continue to toot that Dobbs horn with every wrong note you can muster while literally just about everyone is questioning and discrediting your every post.
Don't know if it's thick skin, further proof that you have no idea what's going on, or if you just get your daily rocks off by trolling... But whichever it is.... It's annoying beyond belief and does nothing but ruffle feathers on here.

Please Stop 4 Heisman

You're just being fair. Pointing out Dobbs' shortcomings and weaknesses, especially as it relates to being a potential NFL QB, isn't disrespectful; it's just how it is.

Giving him what he wants. When he posted normally, he was bland and uninteresting. Does what he does now and he gets your reaction...made his day. :)

Happy to see Dobbs showing out.

That being said, saying Dobbs sandbagged his 40 is the "9/11 was an inside job" of Vol conspiracy theories. Or maybe it's more along the lines of the "every country in the world is secretly controlled by lizard people in disguise" of Vol conspiracy theories lol

Well

Aren't they?

If Knight wasn't a nominal college qb who only completed 53% of his passes last year, then his outstanding 40 time would've only meant teams could draft a good qb who is also fast. Instead, if the article is correct, because of their strong concerns/reservations about his ability to play qb, thoughts are raised about maybe moving him to safety or something, which I think is absurd....can anyone really see him at safety or WR? Nah.

On the other hand, look at Marcus Mariota. Because he was a phenomenal college qb, no such thought was ever raised about him. When he ran his outstanding 4.52 40 at the combine, it only cemented people's thoughts about him being an overly athletic qb....no one ever entertained the idea that he'd need to move to another position....that's just foolish.

Marcus Mariota already had solid first round hype behind him. Obviously a fast 40 doesn't effect your standing if teams already have you as a highly rated QB. A better comp would have been RG3. He had hype behind him and then ran 4.41. That didn't lead to talk to move him to WR because teams already thought he was a first round QB.

My statement was directed more at QBs who didn't have hype behind them going into the combine. If you're QB who isn't projected high to begin with, running a scintillating 40 can only hurt your chances at getting a shot at true QB. Who knows maybe Trevor Knight can be a good NFL QB? Not many teams thought Dak Prescott would do what he did last year. Maybe Trevor Knight can be servicable at QB. But we might never know if no one gives him a chance because they see his athleticism and think lets just move him to WR already. That is all I was alluding to.

If you're not a highly rated QB to begin with, a super fast 40 can only hurt your prospects at getting a fair shot at QB in the NFL.

Because Knight is small, only ever had one good game throwing the ball in college, and was less consistent as a passer than Kizer or Dobbs.

If anyone is considering a position change for him, it's because there really is no way he'll ever have a shot at being an NFL QB unless rule changes make the wing t come back in vogue.

No one ever knocked Mariota for having a blazing 40 time. Or RG3. He'll, even Tyrod Taylor was fine with his 4.51.

If Dobbs had the speed you always foolishly believed he did, he'd have shown it at the combine.

All your doing is belittling his considerable accomplishments.

Your first paragraph made my point exactly.

The ONLY reason a fast 40 time could lead to talk of a qb moving to another position is because that player isn't highly coveted as an NFL QB....hence, the talk about Knight, if it's legit.

So I ask you, are you saying Dobbs isn't highly coveted as an NFL QB, since he ran the second best 40 behind Knight at the Combine? Why would you be concerned that his 40 time would hurt him? Didn't hurt Mariota or Vick. Like you said, a super fast 40 can only hurt your prospects "if you're not a highly rated qb to begin with".....thought you said Dobbs was a first round talent, clearly the best qb in the draft, and would be taken no later than the 2nd round, all of which define "highly rated qb".

Spot on. Fact is, Dobbs, who's as high character a kid as anyone has ever seen, gave everything he had running his 40s at the combine and ran pretty much in the range that everybody not named D4H thought he'd run.
