Tim's comment was interesting... and parallels what other former players have said. Barnett wants the record and that could be influencing his play. I wonder if Hurd wanting to break Travis Henry's record led to his increased frustration. It should have been easily achievable, yet it was becoming apparent that, with decreasing touches and YPG, he was likely to fall short.

No, but he should say something like: "Our goal is to win the East and compete for the championship every year. We worked very hard to achieve this goal this year. We will continue to grow as a team and a staff to develop a championship football team every year. We are very proud of what we have achieved this year in dealing with a lot of adversity and we still have important games to play to help make this year even more memorable."

I heard those quotes and I was glad because he was taking ownership. Then, he stepped in it again. I still think he is a good fit for us. I still think that he can win championships here.

Wow...I'll shut up now. Didn't realize Hurts had rushed for that many yards. Dobbs still deserves it more...cuz he's a VFL!

I think he could be a top 10 coach if he'd delegate the offense to someone who's good at it.

A lot of the same people who get mad at pressers are the same people who feigned outrage over Butch supposedly saying "f em" before half of the TN tech blowout.

They are just waiting to pounce on anything and everything.

I know. I've been one of those people before.

I mentioned the 5 man bear front a couple weeks ago. I wish we would try that this week to help stop the run. Our DBs should be able to play man coverage against Vandy's WRs and stop them. Get out of this nickel junk and commit to stopping the run!

I think we'd all consider any non-bowl year to be a catastrophic failure. Many think any year in which we don't win the East is a failure. A few hopped off the train as soon as we were no longer a reasonable threat to make the playoffs. So where is your line?

If we were to reach the LSU level, where we're relevant every year, but perhaps only serious title contenders about 25% of the time... would that ultimately be satisfactory to you? Or are you only content if we get to the dynastic championship-or-bust level like Alabama?

Note that these are examples and context is important with any result. I'm just interested to hear what level of long-term production and consistency would make you all think, "This is a successful program at the University of Tennessee."

I want to have a chance every year. I want to go into the season knowing that we are legitimate SEC title threats. We don't have to win it every season, but I want the expectation that we can. And when we do, we get a playoff shot. That's not too much to ask.
