Half of those guys will end up being mediocre. Hurts is great at what he does but when he throws under slight pressure, bad things happen. Eason has a million dollar arm, but he needs to get better at playing the QB position.

Someone said it here best the other night- Patterson needs a cut off man.

We have no way of knowing how good JG and Franks will be. I suspect Franks not playing a snap this year might indicate where he's at with how bad their QBs are.

I think we need to keep in mind that all of those kids are freshman. Nobody comes in and lights the world on fire in get SEC as a freshman. But they've all, with the exception of he guys who haven't played, shown flashes.

Lamar Jackson's numbers are inflated because he plays in a Division 2 football conference. Dobbs would have similar numbers if he played the likes of UVA and Syracuse week in and week out.

Dobbs numbers are inflated because we've entered 3 shootouts this year. Two of which don't happen if our D could have stopped a nosebleed.

Doesn't mean he didn't have a good year. Just saying there's factors involved in the numbers.

Nose bleed? Hell, we're trying to stop a gushing femoral artery with a q-tip.

That list, with an exception or two, is pure slaw. It would be slaw with Big 12 defenses.

Chicken or the egg time, but SEC defenses may appear to be so tough because the conference has 2-3 competent QBs. As usual, a combination of the two factors, but there are a lot of mediocre defenses in the SEC as well.

Yes, and we have faced two of them the last two weeks. I still think Dobbs was terrific in each of these games.

Love how you just go right over QD and mention JG. We haven't seen JG take one snap yet. Sorta like Kongbo that we all went nuts over thinking he was the second coming of Barnett. Not saying JG wont be good but we got a glimpse of the arm strength of QD. He looked pretty darn good and accurate.

I haven't been as impressed with QD as everyone else seems to be. He's got a great arm, no doubt. But JG is Taylor made for this offense. QD may get the nod due to experience tho, but there's a reason JG was ranked number 1 in the country

Eh, I disagree. That's like saying Lamar Jacksons numbers are inflated because they score too much. Or Fournettes numbers are inflated because LSU can't throw(not the case this year, but last year). You can't pick your circumstances, you just roll with what you're dealt.

That's not the same.

Kentucky's 2nd highest point total in an SEC game was vs TN. (Scored 40 vs Miss State)

Missouri highest point total in SEC game was vs TN

Texas AM highest point total in SEC game was vs TN

The type of game we got into vs these 3 is a big reason his numbers are inflated. You play the schedule that is in front of you and it's not Dobbs fault our D stunk. But.... context is key.

That's great. But again, as I stated in my post, I wasn't knocking Dobbs. Peyton Manning could be number 1 on that list and it would still be a horrible roster of starting QBs in a conference.

Some people can get so defensive over nothing.

Especially when the criticism last year was that we don't throw it deep and Dobbs has been great at the deep ball this year. It's why he leads the conference. He and the receivers have improved.

I understand. They are freshmen that have shown flashes, which means their career arc can go either way.

The cliches were bad enough, but CBJ has created an adversarial relationship with the media. That whole back pocket list thing... "let me educate you"... the way he handled Hurd leaving in the presser... Cleatgate... and now saying he never talked about winning the East-- he just keeps making them dislike him. So they make him look bad whenever they can-- and unfortunately it reflects badly on UT.

This is just my opinion but it seems it might be difficult to have an amiable relationship with our media. Don't know what one would expect him to say about Hurd leaving or the cleatgate?
As far as the winning the East statement, I took it as, he was referring to not talking about winning the East before the Mizzou game. What happened in Baton Rouge, he had no control over so no reason to talk about anything but winning the Mizzou game..

Fair points. Were his number deflated because we played Bama and Florida?

I'm rewatching the game. I just noticed that it was Barnett who forced the fumble on Mizzou's 4th and 1 attempt. He kept in there and stripped it lose. Did he get credit for that? Man I wish we could have him one more year. He is so special. He needs to go make that $ tho

Edit: I was wrong, FB never had possession. Barnett did however knock the ball away from the line where Bates recovered it

Lol

It's not as bad as it has been but it's bad. Come on man stop putting words in my mouth

You are asking people where it ranks in the SEC or where it ranks in the NCAA or where it ranks in TN teams over the last 10 years.

Think about what you are asking. Where does Kendall Vickers and a couple of second string DE's rank against the SEC, NCAA and TN history as a DT unit?

You are still trying to claim it's not that bad. It is as bad as it's been in 20 years at minimum.

You aren't following. It wasn't that we played UK and Mizz and Texas AM. It's that we played shootout type games vs them.

Usually, when you score 63 on an opponent you don't play QB1 for all 63 points.

Same with UK. When you hang 50 on UK, you don't typically do it with QB1 playing for all 50.

Having a shootout game 1 time a year is one thing. Playing 3 SEC games where you score 150 points with your starters still playing is unusual.

I don't think it's the worst in the SEC or in the last 10 years but the results are.

Damn sure doesn't mean I don't think the DT situation isn't bad

so basically kudos to our team for finding different ways to win when injuries totally decimated our 2 deep and chemistry on defense. obviously ball control, defense, and field position game planning is out the window now. so outscore your opponent whatever it takes has become the plan. works for me.
