"I want to complete every ball I throw," Dobbs said Thursday. "You look at statistics and everything, and a great completion percentage in the SEC is 65 percent and an extraordinary one is 70 percent. That's what we're aiming for. Every ball you throw, you throw with a purpose. At the end of the day you want to take care of the football and get the ball in our playmakers' hands, and that's what we're seeking this camp and pushing for this season."

Dobbs has shown he's capable of winning games with his arm, most notably the Georgia game last season and the past two contests against South Carolina, but both he and offensive coordinator Mike DeBord have indicated he's made some mechanical tweaks, mainly with his footwork, to make him more accurate more consistently.

"In today's football you don't see a lot guys just drop back and throw the ball right away, because of the superior talent on defense and the rush and all the blitzing and things like that," DeBord said. "A quarterback has to learn to step up, side-step, scramble — all those things. Therefore, every throw is different. One time he might be here, and the next time he might be over there. All that goes into it. He's obviously improved."

He'll be AMAZING this year. In 13 games before we head to the playoffs, he'll put up:

3500 yards passing
67.5% completion percentage
32 passing TDs
4 INTs
650 yards rushing
10 rushing TDs

13-0 record. SEC champs.

Heisman Trophy winner.

As long were trotting out every receiver on the roster he'll never accomplish more than last year, needs 1 slot 2 wideouts 1 tight end, get the timing down on go routes CONSISTENTLY! We're either gonna be a running team or a passing team not both and coaches said many times running the ball is his priority

You do know that last season D. Watson was the first QB to throw for over 4K and rush for over 1K EVER and he didn't win the Heisman, right?

Those are Baker Mayfield stats. In the words of another VN poster you are gonna have to "jump higher"!

Honestly D4H, if he gets his percentage in that 65-70 range, combined with the rest of his skills, he will be a finalist.
I can't say win, because he plays for Tennessee but we'll see.

Stats are useless, mean nothing, are irrelevant, don't define anything, don't measure anything.....it's only about what you see on tape.

I only want to complete about 95% of the passes I throw. Sometimes, if the defense has outguessed me, I want to chunk that pigskin into the third row.

If these guys can come out whipping the ball with a devastating pass attack like I think they are trying to it will be absolutely thrilling to watch.

After Dobbs graduates, assuming Dobbs 4 Heisman changes his username, what will it be?
???? for Heisman, ???? for Brains, any guesses?

P.S. Wouldn't it be great if Dobbs actually wins the darn thing? We would need to crown D4H king of VN and put in him the VN Hall of Fame.

It ain't all Dobbs. Receivers have to be playmakers. Line has to give him time for looks, let patterns set up.

I agree about the receivers. We should implement a platoon system of our 6 best receivers.

Malone
Byrd
Jennings

Williams
Smith
Johnson

That would keep players fresh and leave playmakers on the field at all times.

D4H, I've gotta give it to ya man. You're consistent. I'm just going to toss the anti-depressants and follow your posts from here on out. 32 & 4 ... wow!

Nary a crow within 500 miles of Knoxville would be safe with it's life! :eek:lol:

Dobbs could be all world, but the media will find a way to give the Heisman to someone from Notre Dame, Michigan, Alabubba or Stanford.
