Dobbs: 'I want to complete every ball I throw'

I agree about the receivers. We should implement a platoon system of our 6 best receivers.

Malone
Byrd
Jennings

Williams
Smith
Johnson

That would keep players fresh and leave playmakers on the field at all times.

I definitely agree. I hate seeing so many receivers rotating. It has to mess up the rhythm between QB and receiver when you have that many rotating. And as much as our receivers are asked to block they deserve to be rewarded with catches and receiving TD's. Has to get frustrating for a WR to spend the game blocking and not get many chances at catching the ball.

He'll be AMAZING this year. In 13 games before we head to the playoffs, he'll put up:

3500 yards passing
67.5% completion percentage
32 passing TDs
4 INTs
650 yards rushing
10 rushing TDs

13-0 record. SEC champs.

Heisman Trophy winner.

So the legend about both of y'all is true

While I enjoy Dobbs enthusiasm and work ethic that might be the dumbest quote from him I've seen. What QB doesn't want to complete every pass?

I would take 65% and hit a few deep passes over 25-30 yards per game..along with the occasional 60+ yard reception and TD pass. Similar to the one he hit Malone with last year. I have seen Dormady hit more deep passes in the O&W game and limited passes he has had in 1 season than Josh has hit in 3+ years. Between Worley and Dobb's we haven't seen many deep pass completions since Bray left.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that was his point. I'm sure he was asked what percentage he would want to complete.
And his response was 'well of course I want to complete them all'.
He then proceeded to talk about realistic completion percentages.

That's just not how it was written at all but I get the sentiment. It's just a dumb quote for the writer to promote.

It ain't all Dobbs. Receivers have to be playmakers. Line has to give him time for looks, let patterns set up.

If Dobbs had completed all of the passes where the receivers ran the correct route and when he got good protection last year.... he would have completed 65-70%.

We all love Dobbs. Some of us are just realistic enough to acknowledge he hasn't been great in the passing game and particularly down field.

After Dobbs graduates, assuming Dobbs 4 Heisman changes his username, what will it be?
???? for Heisman, ???? for Brains, any guesses?

P.S. Wouldn't it be great if Dobbs actually wins the darn thing? We would need to crown D4H king of VN and put in him the VN Hall of Fame.

I can guarantee it won't be Dormady4heisman

I think it probably averages out..I couldn't tell you how many times the receivers bailed out Dobb's by making unbelievable catches on bad passes and in just the Ala game alone the receivers kept at least 4 passes from being intercepted. So I think all that probably evens out.

Where is the ceiling is on pass attempts for Dobbs? Last season 344 attempts ranks Dobbs as 11th with most attempts in a season. Just ahead of Dobbs is Ainge with 348 in 2006. Peyton is #6 & 7 with 380 attempts in 95 and 96.

Unless the running game goes fubar I can't see Dobbs with more than 360 attempts.

FYI! In 06 Ainge had a 67% completion rate (school record), the only QB to break 65%.

Well no sh&t!...It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that...or does it?

Well to be fair( a rarity) any QB knows it's impossible to complete every pass due to drops and protection breakdowns . JD was demonstrating his competitive nature.

The constant different rotations had more to do with hurt dinged up receivers and Pig getting booted. I think the rotation will be at 5 different receivers and some 2 TE sets every now and then. Unless we have a year like last year.

What a relief!!

Last thing you want is a QB who wants to miss
I was worried for a moment because I hadn't heard him say this at any other time this pre season. But now that he has said it I am confident that he truly wants to hit all his throws.

I just hope he knows if he completes a pass to someone with a different color jersey then that is not a completion. I've yet to hear him discuss this aspect.
